Well, never thought it would come to this but I think it's finally become obvious to me
I need  a break. (apparently after it became obvious to most of you)
The funtastic recent debacle with Kroma has made me realize that I'm becoming what I hate.
One of you.
Not "one of you biased" people or something, but one who takes this game to seriously.

At the end of SGO4 I did something I've rarely done , I posted a largely incoherent rant at
the idea of certain players that one side or the other sets themselves up for shiplist advantages
and only flies the " cheese ships" while of course the speakers side "flies fair and balanced"
How the other guys "always have the numbers" How "we're always outnumbered"
How the shiplist always "favours the other side" the build system "favours the other side"
I posted it in the coalition forums solely because I didn't have access to the Alliance
As far as Im concerned it could have been posted "as is" in either forum.

And of course after I post this rambling attack at the very players I just finished flying a great and fun campaign with.
I find out I'm apparently being bashed in the other guys forums for being so one sided. Apparently bashed enough
that the first email I get after announcing Mirror Mirror is that "they hope I won't take my anti alliance stance into mirror mirror with me"

I don't take it personally as obviously the person is to dumb to understand that a server with identical shiplists and map setup in inherently unbiased against either side.
It's simply a symptom.

Normally I would blow it off and just tell myself "they're idiots" (in a nice way) But I've now had Green, a player I respect question several of my posts, and Kroma
a guy who took the time to send me the OS for my system, and then type out all the Lyran Xship names for me (which I forgot to save  ..)
Now- as far as I'm concerned Kroma did attack me first in the post, maybe he had reason to. I don't know

The point is if I've become involved in the very debates I hate then it's obviously time for me to take a break.
I'll be back (unless EVE or something turns out to be really really cool) to run Mirror Mirror and the rest
And don't worry- I won't let the door hit my ass on the way out.

Rather than talking about putting up a server... just do it.  Let the naysayers gripe afterwards, and dont get sucked into debates that you will never win because you will never please everyone.  If you try to please everyone, you will go crazy because there are naysayers for every element that you can possibly discuss.

This will also keep you from making emotional arguments that you will later regret.

So . . . Here's some advice . . .

1)  Work on Mirror Mirror.  I finished the GW5 map so I have lots of time to help with it.

2)  Stay away from that thread!!!    Just send me PMs with your ideas. (seriously)  HELL EVERYONE ELSE IS!!   Grrrr

3)   DO NOT BE AN RM!!!    Trust me here.

4)   Yer just suffering hockey withdrawl.  You'll survive. Maybe.

Well Hexx I don't think its as bad as all that, but I understand where you are coming from.  Take a little time if you need to but I don't think most people actually think of you as biased one way or the other.  Now they will try to put forth their own viewpoints, and whether they are biased or not is likely in the eye of the beholder, and yes they will have some criticisms.  For example, I might argue against a certain approach J'inn takes on one of his servers, but I'd never think he did it out of any intentional bias, I know him better than that.

As for the concern shown, I think Green just overlooked the smiley, likely his eyesight and the senility of age taking over a bit   (<------Official, I tell ya Greenie ) and Kroma is just being Kroma, he was likely bored at work today and needed something to do, so he got into his "argumentative" mood and you had your little "affair" with him  .  I don't think any real long term damage was done, and he will happily have you back as his cabin boy soon enough (although you beat him in a plasma duel and the roles might be reversed  )

Anyhow look on the bright side, I'm sitting out GW5 pretty much anyhow, so if your taking time off perhaps we could use it to work out some Mirror Mirror details and exchange stupid ideas with each other about it.

Was saying sorry in advanced as these debates alway escalate and I genuinly like you. Man did you see the bitch slapping I gave t00l and Bach a couple of weeks ago over SGO4 debates, and those guys were flying for the same team as me, and usually a couple nights a week on GSA. Hell I slap DH around almost every other day. It is how I show my love.

Saying "bashing" you in the Allaiance forums, is probably to strong a phrase. I took it as someone bashing you, but then I tend to over react. It was more of a question possed about whether anyone else noticed a change in your mood and posting of late. All of the following 4 replies, including but not limited to my own, were in support of you.

For the record, I did not intend to attack you in the post you are refering to. The sentance in question was not meant at you personaly, but was just part of my stream of consiousness directed at general attitudes, I should have been more clear.

I took a break about a little over a year ago, when my own competative streak starting making the game less fun for me. I reprioritized where this game fits in my life, and have been happy with it ever since. Actually, heated forum debates are the part I enjoy the most some days.
