Hoi Bonk,

Good find. Recommended reading for anyone with any type computer of any skill level. Just following the simple steps offered to the best of your ability/comfort level, will save much grief, and help make the most of your time; be it spent with paid service providers, or from generous volunteer experts.

Most of my job is done by following the steps outlined in the Smart Way guide, as in many cases it is not an issue with the service or equipment bought from the company I work for, but the computer they are trying to use it with. Being able to locate knowledge bases or support forums, and walking someone through troubleshooting steps for software or hardware we do not support prevents folks from canceling their service with us. Nonetheless it does rub me the wrong way when someone calls stating they followed the instructions in the manual, but are unable to answer any question relating to the instructions in that same manual. I ask myself do they actually think they are fooling me? do they actually think I haven't read myself? I do get a little insulted, even though I know my paycheck most likely wouldn't exist without people who refuse to refer to the resources at their disposal, without jamming up communication lines.

A guy called me to say he could not get his email solution to work after do a ROM upgrade from his device's manufacture. He says he has uninstalled and upgraded again many times with the same error as a result. I am at the dl site in less than three seconds, read right beside the dl link in bold red caps! "This update is not compatable with "X" email solution, if you use this solution do not update." Oh, says the man, I did not notice that.
Some do not take it so well.

Take care

drb

I cheated today, I probably could have found the answer to this one myself but needed a quick fix.
