Title: SFC 2 EAW Campaign crashes
Post by: ogoptimus on July 29, 2010, 12:52:09 pm
I recently reinstalled SFC 2 EAW and have been playing the ISC pacifcation as the Feds.  However, it is having some stability issues.

It runs fine the first time I start the campaign.  If I want to quit the campaign and exit the game, the whole thing just hangs.  The music continues to play, but nothing happens after I click the 'YES' button to exit the campaign.

Additionally, if I am able to force EAW to quit, the game hangs when I click the button to go back to the campaign (before loading the savegame/new game screen).

Once the game even killed my ship (a nice battlecriser) for no reason at the end of a mission and when I tried to reload, the game froze.

These problems go away if I remove all the savegames from the saves directory--I can start a new campaign no problem.  There just seems to be something about my savegames ALL getting corrupted and not letting the campaign run.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I did update to 2.0.3.6.

You might want to reinstall them game and delete the game folder.

While you probably haven't gotten to this yet, I do believe that there was a patch released for the mission "Battle at the Grave of Thoughts."  You should be able to find it on the Dynaverse.

It sounds to me like you might be having a compatibility issue.  Check to make sure that you are running the program in 2k compatibility mode.

And the exploding battlecruiser, unfortunately there's really not a fix for that, we call that the Hand of Bethke...  I still maintain that its due to a bug in the Fighter removal script, (Fighters, PFs and shuttles are removed from the board (Exploded) when the carrier is destroyed), but it was never fixed.
