Title: Wagic The Homebrew
Post by: Klingon Fanatic on May 29, 2010, 06:34:04 am
;D No, it's not a micro beer.  LOL

Wagic is essentially a GENERIC  FREE card game engine that can be modified into a version of Magic: The Gathering for PC and PSP.

Like SFC, Wagic can be modified to add stuff to it. I have a PSP 3000 and PC version and have customized my copy heavily. There are Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and Star Wars mods.

I'm there at the Wagic Forums as KF1 and I am here in the Other Games forum doing my part to spread the word about this amazing game.

At the present time, not all the MTG cards are available as many MTG abilities have not been coded yet. That's where you folks come in. I am sure the Wagic folks would love to have some of you programmer-Guru types help them with coding missing card abilities (Banding, Flanking, cascade, et. al) for the Wagic program.

Even if you can't do any coding and just want to play MTG, more information can be found here:

It's a great card game engine ;)

Hmmm, looks like it could be an interesting project to hop onto. A good one to maybe get my son to learn C++ for, or add Lua to it for adding the cards.

 ;D

A little project I'm doing to update all the unofficial sets that consist of promotional cards for Wagic:

These are the last sets that I made booster pack art for.

How is this related to SFC?

A really creative person could make a set of cards based on SFC for the Wagic engine, swap out the sound effects, background music etc. and even make a scenario based campaign.

I'm not there yet, LOL.

I think it's as easily modifiable as SFC....

The thought occurred to me. I think there might be a physical one out there? (IIRC) (SFB card game that is)

I used to have a magic dek that killed. Actually it killed my group, we stopped playing because of it. I forget what it had but it was an impossible combo.

Interesting stuff. Will take a look once I figure me out a 3d function plotter mod.

Yes, there is an OLD SFB card game out there.

Hey! old!?  ;) ;D

Yeah, that is the one I was thinking of.

(no offense but for some odd reason your magic deck labels remind me of the old Mad Magazine parody product stickers... don't mind me I'm weird!)

Keep in mind, all of these Unofficial Sets as presented in Wagic: The Homebrew used the back of a Magic: The Gathering card as their booster pack art.

None of those "Unofficial Sets" sets in real life had actual booster packs and the logos that were available were not terribly impressive to start with, so I put something together based on what I was available.  The idea of putting them on a colored boosterpack  was to provide the logos with uniformity in design and to keep the logos from being wildly out of place between each set. They also stand out better agains all the official sets in the Wagic trophy room if you modify the game like I have.

This is my attempt to support the Wagic community by also adding sets that were not part of the original Unofficial Sets.

There are a lot of cards that are not yet available for a variety of reasons but Wagic is a WIP and updates are being made almost daily to make the game better.

You can read about what these Unofficial Sets are about here:

While you are there check out the Wagic community.

Best wishes,

Not certain if I follow exactly, but d/l'ed the Wagic program, still have to install.

If you are saying you are going to create cards and an expansion with Star Trek ships...that would be awesome.  I attack with my Sovereign class using a quantum Torpedo...while my opponent uses his triparthiam shields combined with a modified deflector dish modulated to a 2.452 frequency to deflect the damage!
