Title: Well, it ain't exactly Harpoon 4, but maybe....
Post by: NJAntman on June 21, 2006, 08:01:40 am
Just heard the news that Harpoon 3 ANW is available.

http://www.matrixgames.com/news.asp?nid=318

I haven't played Harpoon 3 (LOK,KEE version) in a few years, but it looks like this one has some bugs worked out, new features, and some interesting databases, including a 1945 version.

Anyone out there have any experience with this one yet?

Finally! As soon as I have 50 bucks to spare I'll give it a whirl.

Man, I haven't played that game in ages.  If I had $60, I'd get the D/L and mailed copy.  I guess I'll have to add it to my 'desired' list.

I participated in the beta testing for this...it's not all that easy of an interface, and deals with a lot of data about military equipment, and it's a release by a bunch of dedicated guys who are taking an out of date game and making something that can be fun today...oh wait, yeah, y'all are gonna love it.

Yeah, matrixgames does great wargames. All the titles I own from them are great games.

But they are known for clunky interface, but in a way, for what they're trying to do (make a highly detailed game that's easy to learn, hard to master) it's almost required.

Maybe their interface is clunky because the games aren't the typical RTS/FPS type stuff, and it's just a matter of "learning something completely different".  For this game, I don't know, haven't played it.

But then again, playing some of their games, I'd do those interfaces a lot different and imho a lot less click-intensive, but just as capable.

Well the interface can't be worse than Harpoon 2.
