Title: Interesting looking Naval Wargame
Post by: Commander La'ra on October 24, 2005, 07:58:53 pm
Saw this on Subsim.com....pre-dreadnought era naval combat game set in one of the most obscure conflicts of the 20th Century (at least to most Americans).  Norm Koger is an old wargame name, which got me interested even more than the subject matter...

Thanks for the heads up.  Looks to be purely naval.  Cool.

I've heard about it.... the battle, not the game. The Russians had their @sses handed to them, didn't they?

Cheers

I wish they would bring back Great Naval Battles and have a dyna for it. I had soooo much fun with that game. You earn your way to command a ship of your choice, and if it got damaged you had to wait out the months of repair.  ;D

The trial is the full game with only one scenario enabled so you see the real game and not a super polished portion. I just got it today and there is a definite learning curve, a 193(!) page PDF rule book that is about 1/2 orders of battle and ship information looks to be of great help however you will want to print out at least the control instructions. With effective ranges of 3000 - 6000 yards for the armored cruisers and battleships and much less for the smaller ships battles will require getting in close.

I know what you mean, I got sticker shock when I saw the price. But $50 isn't unusual for a game these days and given that this game will appeal only to hardcore grognards and will sell very few units, $65 ain't that bad.
