Title: Mission Variety Severely Lacking.....
Post by: LordSaxon on August 09, 2005, 08:08:07 am
OK so how come after installing all of these new mission packs it seems I get the same 1v1 or 2v2 EVERYTIME. Is there some setting that shuffles the missions for selection that is set incorrectly? The patrol mission has not changed except in the regards to terrain, depending on where you're at on the map.
If you are in the center mining field every mission places your wingman directly into the ion storm. If you draft a wingman he gets stuck on the edge of the storm as well.
What happened to Enigma? Ambush? etc. etc. etc.

New missions can be added later (as in future servers) as this mission pack is in its infancy.  The idea is to get the basic scripts stable (we're there) and bug free (not quite there yet) and then expand as opposed to releasing a pack of 50 un-tested bug-ridden CTD specials.

I miss some of the asteroid base defense missions and convoy missions.  A smaller ship could actually have hope vs large ones in those as the aim isn't destruction of the attacker but staying alive and keeping the covoy or base intact.  Yeah the convoy capture was a PP farm, but I found it a blast to try to annoy a big enemy ship in my DWLP so badly that freighters get away or the base PH4's and your assistance makes the dread or whatever have to leave.  Takes work, but work is fun.

  Right on dude! Once stable, rationalising the fWait parameter with other stable scripts wouldn't hurt either. (read EEK)

Yes, I sympathise with you Saxon, but believe me, its even more frustrating trying to get rid of all the bugs first when there is a number of fun missions I'd like to do.

In the meantine, mission suggestions are also welcome  :)

The magic number is 3, T-H-R-E-E, TROIS, III. It's also posted in the EEK Mission specs. pages forever, and ever, and ever, and ever. ;D
