Post by: toasty0 on March 08, 2005, 03:26:45 pm
I ask that this thread be unlocked: http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163146368.0.html

Thank you.

I wouldn't mind either.  Is there a really compelling reason not to discuss such things?

It's been locked, so locked it stays.

Requests like this should be sent to a mod / admin, instead of posting publically.

Thanks,

Are you suggesting that because I made this request publicly the thread will stay locked?

it seem that you the mod are doing the same thing as the old forum overpowering and censoring what you don't like, sure we need moderation but not censorship, i have read it and i agree with the fact that it's not your computer the problem but the game, if it was the user computer why does only THAT game having a problem?, well it's simple it's the game that is the problem, so now why don't you keep a strong head and refusing the topic to be unlocked?, is it a free minded forum or is it only what you allow to be said about the game?, or is it because he ask openly to re open a subject instead of asking it in pm?, I disagree with the lock and it will stay closed because we will not go back on the decision, i don't know what excuse you have for locking it but I find it disturbing to act like that, if you don't like what it says then don't read it but when you lock it up you just prove a point that you overrule this forum by putting your personal opinion on a game, sure go lock this one also and we will come back, ban us and more will leave the forum and go elsewhere.

I'm quite sure that is not what Frey meant.

I assume that he meant there is no second guessing on basic moderation/admin decisions. If a reasonable decision is made, it stands... otherwise we'd get nowhere on anything.

The mention of a PM is just a reminder that delicate forum requests are best addressed with a PM to an admin (Preferably Blade for this type of request).

I'd suggest just copying the most important parts of the old thread to a new one and continue on with the productive portion of the discussion - should be fine by everybody I think...(?)

Your contributions and excellent critical thinking are appreciated. By all means have your say.

(P.S. I got some ideas and comments for your ladder league page when I get a chance to scribble them down...)

P.P.S. Threads from the old forum (like that one) generate 404 errors by the boatload because of missing ubbthreads folders referenced by them. So you'd be doing the D.net webserver a favour by starting a new thread! ;)

No.

I am just suggesting that next time you don't utilize a public forums for your own requests.

Sending it to an admin / mod is just as easy.

Why WOULDN'T you want to do it that way, Toasty?

Nothing personal, but IMHO this is exactly the reason people should send in requests to unlock / know why a thread was locked to an ADMIN or MOD.

Everything you just said proved the point of why it should remain locked.

Thank you.
