In a related story the Taldren SETI Group just re-passed the 300,000 Work Unit milestone.
Sorry for the chest thumping... but I think it is pretty cool.

Hey Raven stop doing the SETI work and get down to whats really important.............
We need another installment of your story
-
Hi again Raven.
How do we sign up for the Taldren group.
My 873 SETI units are still being logged by the Starlance group !!
-
You can jpin the Taldren Team by going to this page and hitting the "join" button near the top of the page. Hope this helps.
-
It does help ..... all I have to do is remember my log-on/password deal.
I've had a few e-mail addresses, I can't remember which I signed up with so many moons ago !!
<<edit>>. OK, I'm in, but I had to create a new account. Loosing the years worth of processed results on the way
But it's all for a good cause, so I'll let my ego ride that one out
<</edit>>

If you go to your SETI folder and find "temp.sah", you can get your email address for your account. you then go here to get your password. You then should be able to move your WU's to Taldren if you wish.
-
Cheers. Postman.
Unfortunately this now reflects my newly created User details.
I fear the old one (with WU) has gone the way of the dodo.
Not to worry, I've been at SETI for over 2 years (and have 1 years processor time), so I'll just have to start again
-
My meager 47 units are contributed. Dropped me right into the #111 slot. I wonder what kind of processors are on the computers of those with average processor time of just 6-10 hours. Mine?s 13, and I have 2 AMD Athlon 1900s.
-
They use the command-line version of SETI. It's much faster, as i can do it in 4 hourson average, with an Athlon 2000+

Over 527 units I've managed to get my average time down to 3hr 33min 58.7sec. I think its still dropped, but at a very small rate.
At the moment I'm using the cmd line with SETI Driver on my home 2.53Ghz P4 and my work 2.4Ghz P4.
I know everyone mentions it here but if you can use the cmd line over the screensaver it really does produce a increase.
