Shuttles...actually fun
« on: November 06, 2005, 06:43:31 pm »
I've got this script for EAW I call 'Freya Shipyards'.  It's essentially a sandbox area I made to look at my favorite ships, with a large Ice planet, a starbase, a hospital ship, and a CLC with the appearance of my DD.  Just for fun, I set the player fleet to be a shuttle by default, so I could see the ships from the prospective of the shuttle (Very, very big ships).  I also made a custom Shuttlecraft texture (Shuttlecraft L3-01 Tizona).

I also messed around with the shuttle, and found it to be pretty fun to fly.  I flew it around the starbase, the Pasteur-model hospital ship, my Revere, the Hydran Corsair, and the Mahracha model from Battleclinic,  and even did a few passes over a friendly family of sungliders.  I even took a few shots at the presidential liner holding station over the Ice Planet.  The shuttle is actually far more effective than the AI shuttles "act" in game.

Shuttlecraft (Any)
Maximum Speed:  20.0  (If you are charging your weapons, you must maintain a maximum speed of 15.0 for optimal performance.)
Maximum Speed With Full ECM, or 3 ECM/3 ECCM:  4.0 (This is with the Phasers fuly charged, of course.  They automatically charge when you take control of the shuttle.)
Armament:  1 2-shot Ph3
Can Carry Marines (Theoretically, since the transporter CP does not appear.)

Glitches:
Game freezes when you click on the Fleet MFD while in control of a shuttle.
Game Crashes if you click on the Emergency Battery button on the Power MFD.

Advantages:
Erm...well...none.  There are no advantages.  I'd never take one of these against a frigate.  Or a Ph1-armed fighter.  The only reason for flying these is that they're fun, and your ships look really, really, big.
