Ladies and gentlemen, this debate over SFC2 vs SFC3 is getting way out of hand and is doing no one any good at all.

A friendly discussion over the merrits of each is healthy and can be quite productive, however, recent discussions hardly fall into this category. Furthermore, this 'debate' is now spreading to other forums and creating enmity between players over two games that are essentially of the same genre. Were this an argument between SFC3 and the latest Command and Conquer game, perhaps it would seem more understandable.

But here, all we are doing is shooting ourselves in the foot

SFC2 is a good game.
SFC3 is a good game.

They are NOT the same game and never will be. End of story.

So, I'm going to ask each and everyone of you, who visit these boards to support your fellow players (SFC2 and SFC3 alike) and make the online Starfleet Command experience a good one for us all. This is not a schoolyard playground, so please do not abuse the freedom of speech we have here by behaving as such. This business of saying "my game is better than your game" really is beyond reproach and some of us really should be setting a better example.

Debate, to me, is the way to improve something. Let others see your point, and try to see theirs. Especially the latter is important, because if you only shout and don't listen, you are going to end up in the delta quadrant anyway.

A healthy discussion is always good

, but a biased, adverserial one is never good

. Never attack others personally, as sometimes happens. I actually believe that people attack others to cover up flaws in their own argumentation

There is only one thing worse than men fighting, and that is women. If the women on this board got in to it, then look out.

That is why we women have to keep our emotions in check. It would get ugly very fast. So, if we women can get along then I feel the men should too.

I have found that putting myself in the others shoes helps me a lot. But that's what is really all about, now isn't it? "I am valid, my emotions and feelings are valid and yours are not". That is the problem right there.

We need more self respect. More self respect breeds more respect of others.

lol yes women are more fiesty than men when things kick off but thats nothing compared to a Star Trek fan whenever there is a dissagrement about anything Star Trek related. Most of this stuff isnt worth arguing about but it can be quite interesting to see to what lengths people will goto to prove a mute point.

Tracey, the thread in question didnt start out as a SFC3 vs SFC2 debate. It started as a veteran of the game expressing his disappointment in a product we all hoped would be better upon release. The debate has actually been pretty civil IMHO.

of course, you'd say that Fluf..and I see some of you still couldn't help but put in that last quip about GaW..lol. Blitzkrieg just put everything into perspective, so did Subspace. Guys have been arguing about the games as if it were life and death situations. Mean I enjoy playing the games, but it's not anything special that I have to bawl, cuss, shout, make dripping sarcastic comments or talk about the ideal something like if it was important to my health. As I said, some guys acting like SFC is a marijuana spliff to smoke, and the world will end if we don't get the ideal thing

Btw, if any of the women here were in that "month" *cough* in other words..PMSing, then I can tell you guys now..we males would be in hell.

. People have made their point till the topic became stale. (Just love how Golar said that in the Klingon campaign). It became stagnant and of course started to raise obsessitivity and arrogance. Nuff said. Now can we return to our regular daily lives.

Hmmm... have to go with Fluf on this one. Nice sentiments if there had been real flame wars, but if there were I missed them.

A bit of debating is good for the soul... and who knows, maybe a few will be tempted to at least try the other games(s) if they only have one at present.
