Topic: Help needed with mackie ships -lots of minor texture problems-hey mackie  (Read 1539 times)

I am in the process of converting all of mackies ships to BC, and I noticed many of them have alot of little errors. For example, things like missing TMP phaserbanks. Or, there yellow blocks are there for the phaser banjks, but the 2 little "tits" are missing. (Even if all that can be done is putting dots on them-whatever works.) Another, the tos davids class, the bussards do not glow. The lightmap is there, I just think the bussard texture itself is too dark (nearly black) and thus does not show. Niskasalus has double running lights, as the outer ring of the lower saucer is mis-mapped. Also, the TOS magellan has major map problems. There is pylon texture on the back of the ship where there should be plain hull, and the 2 tos deflectors are not copper colored.

you can see all of the mackie ships currently ported over here in that above thread. Most of the errors are shown in thos pictures. If you are able to fix them, let me know, I would appreciate it.

I believe I have fixed the Reptile and TMP davids class nacelle light problems. There was no lightmap included for the texture in the downloads. Luckily one of the other ships used that same texture and I pulled the lightmap from it. Mackie, you may want to fix that issue. I will send you that lightmap next time you are on so you can update the downloads if you want.

My question is:  Did you credit Mackie for his designs?  Mackie's okay with you porting these over? And for the ships with the fixed registries by me, did you credit me?  And on the Reptile, did Pataflafla get his credit?  And p81, TheSkinMan, Anduril, and everyone else that Mackie has built his work on has got their credits in the ships that use their parts?

I should be able to help you fix them, as I did a lot of the SFC ports and texture tweaks, but I want to make sure that everyone that's worked on these gets credit for their work.  And I also have the lightmaps for the Obereth as well. The "NeckShot" having the double running lights was an issue pointed out when I originally did the port, which you should be able to read about going back through the forums.  I'll check the TOS Magellan for those mapping problems.

If I'm coming across as being bitchy... this is the first that I've heard of these being done (and I check these boards daily), and for the sheer number of these that appear to have been done already, this appears to have been going on for a long while.  And I can't say as I've heard good things about the BC community when it comes to credit due in the past.  Would've been nice to know that some of what I've done is in BC right now, and to have heard it from you here earlier.  If that was a faux pas, and no harm was intended.. then I'll get by that as long as the BC ship credits include the "thank yous" and original credits from the SFC ports.

nothing has been released yet, but original readmes/credits will be included with everything. And mackie posted a thread at BCU (porbably more than once) and bumped it several times trying to get his stuff converted, so yes, he wants them in BC.


And to answer your questions, no modding has been done yet, this is just stage one, getting everything to nif. I did 14 of them yesterday. I just did the oberth variant and the new miranda dreadnought a few minutes ago. And the magellean has serious problems. I just noticed that not only is the rear end screwed and the tos dishes, but some of  the lights from the sidewalls as pictured on mackies site are also missing. So some of these I will need to reconvert. Some simply need minor texture alterations or lightmap updates. And I know a guy who can do registries and another who does lightmaps as well, so That wont be an issue, as there is a couple with ncc1701 on them still.

just some missing lightmaps. The lightmaps can be found in other ships, like the nacelle lights for the davids refit and reptile. BTW, you have way more textures than needed in that recent miranda dreadnought. Theres like 22 textures actualy used.

ok ok i admit i packed the thing quite quickly
