Tholian SG3 ship models
« on: May 19, 2003, 11:24:15 am »
Whats up with making my models look like flying blood clots??

Why the blazes is a Centauri fighter being  used for a PF?

Why the heck are some of the Tholian ship models missclassed? (NDD model is incorrectly used for the frigate)

<shrugs> 'Cause he thought it was pretty?

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I don't mean to be flip, it just sounded funny at the time...anyway...yeah, that Tholian PF is pretty boss...and Diz, I have a WAY better centauri fighter...

<goes and roots around in his model folders>...damn,  Idon't have that Tholian PF...I have a bunch of other Tholians (not from Dizzy) that look a lot like it...where can I get it?

<roots around again for the read-me file for his Tholians...promptly smacks own forhead>

"Ship Design: ADB, Michael Woodcock
Mesh: Brezgonne
Textures: Brezgonne"

Ummm...where can I get it?

I guess you should have taken Dizzy up on his offer to help with SG3.

I have no intention of using Dizzy's altered versions of my ships. I just don't like them. i'd prefer if he left the normal ships in and used his alrtered ones on his own system instead of forcing them on other people.

I already have an account there (UN: Brezgonne)

If the Tholian ships can be fixed to match how they are supposed to feel I'll likely take Dizzy up on the Tholian postion he offered.

Right now the Thls have some very differnt changes to them.

The turn modes are usually one catagory worse than they are supposed to be.

They have hellbores. This messes with their already tight powercurve and makes them feel bloody weird.

The firing arcs tend to be a bit extreame sometimes.

Personally I will probably swap out the models for the ones Dan made :-)

By the way Dan, have you ever seen Thu11's work on the Gorn? I wonder if you have considered an updated version of the Tholians for SFC mods. You know add a little more movie era look to the ships and a bit less SFB. The Thu11 Gorn ships have a strong reference to the SFC models while still updating the overall look.

I kinda liked the blood clots.  Thought they looked cool.  I agree they are not the color scheme of the Tholians in TOS, but I liked 'em.  No matter what the final version that ends up in the files is, it is nice to see a new race.

I like those two also.  Basically, think of it like this.

The Kzin like big shiny objects.  I normally play Kzin.  Ergo, I like big shiny objects.

Well..... I, uh...... well, Dan..... I don't know nuttin about ships.

I'm sure these represents the Tholian race just wonderfully.

It's just..... all those..... sharp edges!!!

I think it's just a girl thang to like smooth, rounded, sleek, gentle edges.

But please don't see this as an attack!!!

<runs away quickly!!!>

Basic Tholian stats:

Silicon based, crystaline life form. High Pressure Methane-Sulfer Atmosphere. Ambient tempeture 500 degrees (I think it's 500 C)
