Texturing for dummies
« on: May 18, 2003, 04:37:23 pm »
NOW????I know why everybody likes to build ships but nobody likes to texture them.  I need help. I am in search of texturing tutorials for either milkshape or 3d Studio Max 5.  Especially tutorials that should be entitled ?Texturing for dummies?. That should describe my level of texturing knowledge. I really need help.  Is there anyone that can help me?

I think it would be great if someone could help Unknown Warrior with learning how to texture his ships. I've seen the pics of his ships and he has many cool designs (at least 3 dozen Fed,Roms & Klingon) that would look great in game and they're just sitting around doing nothing. If anyone can help Unknown Warrior learn to texture these ships, PLEASE do so and not let these sweet ships go to waste.

I know where you're coming from.  I have modeling down but I'm still learning how to texture my models.  The hardest thing is designing a very detailed texture.  I don't know of any tutorials that actually teach you how to create your textures, maybe someone who can texture well can give you some pointers on that.  Here are some tutorials that will help you get them onto your model.
I hope this helps:

 skinning a building in milkshape
 3ds max texturing tutorial

They're not all sitting doing nothing... I am working on some myself that he sent me a while back.  It's been slow though, simply with RL and all the other projects that I have... but they are being worked on (the ones that I have).

But we absolutely could use more people texturing here, without a doubt.
