Scenery Imagery (Image Heavy) - new backgrounds for OP.
« on: September 11, 2003, 08:38:23 pm »
I am still tweaking the bmps in assets\models\space, but here's the beginning. I did more than add BC stuff, some of the bmps already in the space folder were quite good, just dark. I enhanced a good many of them, in addition to adding some BC imagery. It's funny how I never thought to do this over the years.  These are OP pics.

The game mechanics make the backgrounds BIG - but I think they came out alright.

The backgrounds are random in SFC - as opposed to specific backgrounds being scripted in for BC. The Stellar Nursery (adapted to BC by Banzai Zap) is one background that may show up. I hope to release the OP version this by the weekend. Ship models shown are in my TNG Mod for OP.

These are nice. The last couple are a bit blurry. I found it helpful sometimes to scale the individual groups that make up the scenery mod. Or even bringing in the
group closer to the center will make it smaller, that way they are clearer. You might try added 2-3 small nebulas per map, instead of 1 big 1.
Just my 2 cents. I been working on scenery mods quite a bit. Even made one up that adds stars. The model is made up of about 100 small squares aranged in a big square.

Then there are about 30 bmp's with scattered stars. Only 5-8 per map. Of various colors. About 6 of the bmps have small nebulas or galaxies. Its something you need to see in game when you can
rotate your ship around.

I especially like the planet ones.

Boy, you weren't kidding with the Image Heavy thing. Is your F12 key worn out? Great shots, Chris! Glad to see that you're having fun with this again. After all, that is the point of a "game", right?

Thanks James. I would like to get them a bit clearer. I have never played with these files before, kinda like anew game now.
More images to come.
