for two reasons.

One, I need to see what Ditzy did to the Tholians before I consider playing (I found my disks. I'm current;ly cursing at the 22 mb patch)

Two, I would like to correct what he's done to them.

My current thinking on casters and web is as follows:

SFB rules state to replace each caster with 2 disruptors. This messes up the power curve and does little to keep the normal flavor of the THolian ships.

Instead I'd like to replace each web caster with 2 ph1's instead of 2 Dizzys.

This retains the power curve (Casters hold for zero), provides some of the point defense that the caster provides, and retains the firepower of the caster in fist mode, and retains the phaser heavy flavor of the tholians.

THe only problem is that some players will have a problem with this. Why?

Well, the Neo-Tholian Heavy Crusier would have 4 Disruptors, 6 Ph-3's, and 11 Ph-1's.

The second reason is it drops the BPV of the caster ships. Casters are bloody expensive compared to both disruptors and ph1's. How much? About 5 points per caster (The differnece between the caster and 2 ph1's)

Its alway great to see an old vet come back to the game. But I really think you should consider flying for the coalition DIzzy is flying Tholians and you cant kill him if your on the same side. I plan on killing him at least 5 or 6 times this server if he dosnt run off the map like a sissy hehe

.......well...... I recived file and.... well.... lets just say I'm less than thrilled with what Ditzy did with the THols and I can EAISLY understand why he wants to fly them.

The majority of the ships don't really seem to belong in the game. Heck, they aren't even THolian ships. Just ones Ditzy made made.

These aren't Tholian ships. They are Tholian ships that someone looked at, wasn't happy with, and changed.

Hellbores have no place on Tholian ships. Period.

Most of the ships he's done would give the ISC a run for their mony on raw firepwoer and available power.

If these are Ditzy's idea of balanced ships I'm almost scared to look at the other races.

It may sound selfish but I'm only going to play on SG3 if the THolians are corrected.

Keep in mind Dan that Dizzy has an Advanced era with SBF'ish X-ships (NOT the OP type), so if a Tholian ship looks a bit OTT check the release date. Not to say he didn't slip a little cheese in, he does have to keep up the appearance he is something more than an adequate pilot.

I did keep that in mind. most of the ships match the arrival dates for the ealiest members of their class or close to it. NOT the X-Ship era (Which the Thols already have in SFB)

The Arachno Tholian ships are nearly completely absent from his shiplist as near as I can tell. If I could I would replace the majority of the ships present in the SG3 shiplist with the real SFB Tholians.

Agreed, I believe the intent was to test them out before the real campaign. If you have the ShipEdit exports of the real deals, send them to Dizzy.

Thanks for joining the fray Dan, and trying to keep things balanced. God knows we need to know what is up with these Tholian ships, I had my butt raped enough by the Rom THV in attack of the kitties. I would hope never to see that kind of firepower and energy again...
