The Good:

First Flight
Another excellent episode of Enterprise. Great characters, great story, nice subplot that doesn't ruin the show and ties in nicely in the end. I'm impressed.


The Bad:

Bounty
Overall this was starting out as an average episode. Good but not great. Then one thing happened to make my estimate drop all the way down to "suckage". Klingon escape pods? What idiot wrote that? Especially knowing that they've already established in "Sleeping Dogs" that Klingon ships of this era don't have escape pods! That should have been written as some other ship besides Klingon, but the markings, doors, bulkheads, sound effects and the general design of the hull of the ship were clearly meant to be Klingon. With escape pods. I'm insulted.


The Ugly:

The new Tellarites. They were ugly, which is great! Although, I have to tell you all this: My girlfriend has taken to watching the show with me, and from time to time we watch episodes of the other shows. We recently saw the TOS episode "Journey to Babel" which was the first time Tellarites were ever seen. To my astonishment, Jennifer said to me "He looks like that alien we saw on the old Star Trek show the other day." If it's a good enough resemblance for my girlfriend to recognize, then it's got to be good enough.

Simply put, I found the first episode to be good and enjoyable, the second to be simply average .

I enjoyed 'First Flight' more, because here we had an actual, real, live prequel story!  Instead of that hodge-podge of all other Treks we normally have on this show.  Oh, but for the path not traveled!  If only...

But T'pol in heat AND well-designed Tellarites were more than enough to make up for *gasp* Klingon escape pods.  Well, we can rationalize this travesty by saying that that was a civilian transport ship.  Because it's Klingon, it still has weapons, just very minimal ones by Klingon standards.  Warrior ships = no escape pods (to show bravery and willingness to die in battle).  Civilian transport ships = escape pods (because even a Klingon doesn't want Grandma paQta'na to die in an accidental warp core breach, or other noncombat-related mishap).  You can also put that Klingon transport under your 'ugly' list.  And boy, was it!

I have no problem with Klingon escape pods.  They're not supposed to be stupid.

Agreed!!!  I don't know why, but most trekkies consider Klingons as Blood Thirsty, suicidal maniacs.  The Civilian Part of the Klingon Empire are not nearly as extreme as the Military.  I think only the Klingon Military is that fanatical and even then, I think all this "let no one comeback alive" is more propaganda and control then actual Klingon tactics.

I bet even Klingons would not mind having some escape pods handy.  Maybe only a few are on Klingon ships like 1/3 compared to what you see on Fed ships.

First flight was a good episode except for two pilots and a guy in a hanger with a PC are going to steal something as complicated as the first(well, actually the second) warp drive space craft, I don't think so.   That is the only part that was a bit cheesy to say the least.
