How do I edit a ship file?
« on: May 08, 2003, 02:28:58 am »
Ok, I've looked at most of the posts here, and I can't for the life of me, figure out how to edit the ship files. About all I can figure out is how to edit the hardpoint placement for a ship.

I also tried searching on google but came up to a dead link in thats supposedly from this web board....

Anyways, I hope this question hasn't been asked 10,000 times... Maybe it could be stickied ?

Hey... just open the shiplist.txt file with excel (a spreadsheet program) and stick in whatever you like.  Make sure you back up your original file... and remember there are TWO copies of the shiplist.txt file in two different directories... make sure you modify (replace) both of them with your new ship list.

Better yet go and get Shipedit.... http://www.xenocorp.net/Fleets_Guilds/Starfleet_Command/starfleet_Command.html

There's one for OP and EAW.

Go into your Assets/Specs folder and make a copy of the shiplist.
Startup the shipedit program, and open the shiplist copy. Pick the race you want to fiddle with, and experiment to your hearts delight.

Once you get in there, it's not as difficult as it looks.

Hope that helps!
