Don't know how good it is, but you can follow (or download) mine at my site.  But the basic steps are: convert textures to .BMP from .PCX, raise color levels to 16 million, add illuminations of the base textures to get it to SFC 2 level, then add damage textures, glows, beauty/tactical/library shots and UI to get it into SFC 3.. (glows are optional for some ships, the Sharlin I've just finished won't have them because there's really nothing to glow).  Mesh-wise, it's welding the vertices and then changing the numbers on some of the weapon placements to correspond to the new numbering system introduced in SFC 3.

Oh, and capping the holes on the break mod.

That's about it in a nutshell....

same proccess as SFC2 to SFC3, only you won't have lighting maps after the conversion.

What I'm running into is that looking at the models in 3DMax, it seems like all the normals are reversed. TRying to reverse the normals does not have the desired effect. I'll try just using it the way it is and see if it works. Thanks for all the advice and replies everyone.
