SFC:OP and winex
« on: May 06, 2003, 11:32:12 am »
My system:

Linux Mandrake 9.1
Winex version 3

I managed to get SFC:OP to work under Transgaming's winex.  Single player works great, two problems however:

1. No keyboard (am using StarfleetOP.exe to start game.
2. No multiplayer

any suggestions?

How about a trade:  50000+ SETI W/U for a native Linux port

I used stuff posted on the Transgaming and sourceforge site - along with some pure Windows binaries.

Where are your howtos located at?

The W/Us are already there -   maybe Raven can take a vacation for a few months - or better yet - donate some W/U to myself

       week total    avg.   days
 432) Raven        3450 71060 431.2
 716) Cyberkada 4386 52159 555.9 -151.7

Only   151.7 days to catch Raven at present rate.

Unlike the great (C) MOOHunt, I could never catch Raven.

Forget the Linux Port - How about SFC: GaW?

I wrote the FAQ on the TG site. I am one of their sysadmins, currently on parental leave. I did the initial research about SFC and WineX. I have old screenshots too.

PS. I hope you paid for that subscription, and not just downloaded a pirated copy.

I prefer to roll my own.

Sometimes linux gurus prefer using cvs and make rather than rpm

BTW, the keyboard DOES work. I don't know why it doesn't on yours..
. of coruse I haven't been to work for a few months now, so I am not familiar with WineX 3. .. maybe try a version 2 of some sort?

hm..  ..  did you browse through the CVS tags for a stable version 2? You might have a missing DirectPlay regkey, but I already detailed that data on the site and in an older post in the forums.

As for directplay.. well.. the lack of DPlay4 code in winex (and the lack of demand for it) makes it less prioritive than a lot of recent games.
