SFC2 Hardpoint Tutorial For Milkshape??
« on: April 30, 2003, 09:07:42 pm »
Does anyone know of a link to a tutorial for adding hardpoints to a SFC2  model using milkshape? Also sometimes milkshape will only display parts of the mesh , or transparent textures in the "textured" mode. Does anyone know the reason for this or the maximum display capabilities of Milkshape.?

In the case of the partially displayed mesh : the model un-edited works fine in game. Imported to milkshape only a partial mesh is displayed. Re-scaling or adding a dummy object for hardpoint has been attempted. When the model is exported, only the parts of the mesh that were displayed in milkshape are visible. I have re-scaled before and never seen this problem.
Any input would be appreciated, Thanks to all.

I do not believe that there is a way to implement hard points in MilkShape. It doesn't support them. For better importing of .mod models into MilkShape, I refer you to this thread:

If you use the MOD exporter for Milkshape, it does not export hardpoints. If you want to edit/add/remove hardpoints, I recommend you try the program here.

This is exactly what I have been looking for.....unfortunately is does not seem to work with OP. When I export a ship even un-edited it crashes the mod viewer and the game. Any suggestions?

There is no program that can be used with Milkshape to put into place Hard Points ,Damage Points or Brk_mods. I wish there was but this is just a cruel fact of life.  You need 3D Max to get all of the detail work done for any SFC game. I wish there was a good way around it since I have been using Milkshape for 3 some years now and I have more than 60 models that need Hard Point on them and growing.

This "CV" program is not related to milkshape . it displays the hardpoints and appears able to move them but the exported model will crash Taldren mod viewer, the CV program(if you try to re-load it) , and OP. It appears to change the file size even if you DO NOT edit the model and then re-save it.(?) I hope there's a trick to it because it's just what I need. The on-line description seems to indicate the it DOES work with SFC/OP but gives no instruction and no read-me file. Has anyone had success exporting to OP with this program?
