Ok- well that is wierd. I think your right, probalbly due to the 2 lod's in taldren models. Its likely that milkshape cant read levels of detail and gets confused by them. I wonder if you removed the lod textures 1st if it would make a difference.
Anyway-looks like the solution would still be remapping. I am not 100% sure that would work because the lod information must be in hex in the .mod file from the taldren models. Not sure how milkshape is reading em. I do know that milkshape reads Ilumination maps as transparencies. So I-maps won't work.
Ugh- Just remembered how Taldren maps there textures. Yea they got parts scattered all over. The easy way from scratch is to map the top halve of the ship on 1 map and bottom on the other halve. Don't know why taldren did it the way they did. If I did it my way I would have to cut and paste parts of the bitmaps all over the place.
It may not turn out 100% true to original but I'd get it as close as possible. Still not sure about the lod,s. So no guarentees here
