OT-Ben Sisko snubbed on A&E
« on: April 30, 2003, 10:37:29 am »
From  Trek Today :

"During Patrick Stewart's Biography episode, A&E ran a poll asking viewers to vote for their favourite Trek captain, but did not include Captain Benjamin Sisko. He was not included in the  online poll either. If you wish to send feedback to A&E regarding the omission of Sisko, the network can be reached via  this page . Thanks to Doug Wilson for this! "

I'm not big on online activism but I'd encourage you to send feedback to A&E about this serious omission.  He'd have my vote for sure though maybe he wouldn't win, but to exclude him completely is just wrong.  Thanks for your time.

Why?  So they can have a good chuckle about how nerdy and pedantic Star Trek fans are?

Trust me.  They don't care.  And neither should you.  It's not exactly the end of the world...

No, so they could correct their online poll.

If they didn't care, why the poll? I'd think with the feedback, they'd be happy with the hits/visits to the site.  And nope, it's not the end of the world.  This is just one DS9 fan getting the word out plain and simple.

Take a second look at the poll, Sisko is there as far as I can tell. Oddly enough, he's at the bottom of the list, but he's still there.

So I guess they got the message after all...

CIV out.

I think it would be interesting to see where the Archer vote would fall.  I notice that Picard is now in the lead, but perhaps Archer is the "Ross Perot" of Trek?  Would more of the Archer vote fall in the Kirk category if he wasn't there, enough to push Kirk into the lead?

It's called 'content'.  All websites need it, or no-one would visit and they'd make no money.

Correct you are sir, but we all know how the web works already  .  Your point was they didn't care and we shouldn't waste our time.   Lo and behold though A&E changed the poll to include Sisko probably because of all the "nerdy and pedantic" (as you put it) fans out there.  See what can happen when you think positively?  Don't be such a stick in the mud.  Enjoy life.
