FireSoul: Revised OP+ List with Split Heavy Hardpoints?
« on: April 29, 2003, 02:58:48 pm »
FS, SFCX is seriously considering running a late/X era light campaign within the next couple weeks. I was wondering how hard it would be to get a revised OP+ shiplist with the split heavy weapon hardpoints you seem to be planning to do anyway. Should we wait a while for a new release, or could we get an interim release?

Thanks either way.

Sorry, I just don't think to use the PM feature. In fact, I never use it unless someone else sends me one and I respond. I guess that's just a habit.

Besides, this way my post numbers go up. (LOL, like it matters!)

To hell with testing.. .. let's test this in the wild.
I'll just update if there are errors/corrections to do.

I expect to release tonight. I'm currently updating the site's HTML.

NO.  A seperate post FS made said it is available but as of this time is not used on the server.

I D/L'd it for solo play and to check the settings out in shipedit, but not for D2.

Why is it that some people expect free stuff to be correct on release and don't want to participate in beta feedback? What you've done is the best way. Then collect the feedback, and make the changes you want to make instead of giving yourself a headache QCing it all yourself.

I'm glad you think so.
.. I am fairly confident everything went well.. so.. I released it anyways.

At the worst, I would release a 2.11 version with the urgent fixes included. I doubt that's needed.

Could you test the Z-SDF*, the Z-CD* and the Z-MSC*  ships?
.. with the DC +6 changes, these should be better.

Sorry FireSoul, I missed the above post.  I have not flown those ships.  I'll still check them on the 2.1 version though ... don't know if it matters or not w/ 2.1B (soon to be) out.

2.1b = 2.1 - 2/3rds fighter changes + other mentioned fixes requested.
It still matters.

Tep, just D/L'd 2.1B and read the changes, no changes to those ships.  Give me an hour and I'll post.

FireSoul.  Mixed message.

All of these were played in single-player skirmish using stock (no spacedock) ships.  I loaded all of your files (shiplist, ftrlist, strings, and names)

On the Z-CD.

Of the 6 missions I tried, I crashed on 5 a split second after the game started (the point when you would hit the R-key).  I'm not positive if this is a problem with the Z-CD or the K-D6D (the one mission vs a K-D5D worked fine).  After 2 crashes, I ran a mission flying a Z-CA (to see if it was a "me" problem) and it worked great.  So I ran the missions listed below and then cam back to the CD.  Crash, worked (the report above), and crashed.  No idea why it would be intermittent for this other then the Klink ship I selected.

As for the ship load, I thought the 12 DC would make the ship a real killer, but it really didn't.  I'd take the Z-SDF over it given the BPV advantage the frigate will give you.

On the Z-SDF.

No crashes, no real problem.  When fighting an equal BPV ship (K-G4) it dominated.  The SDF with a 12 DC may be a bit under rated in its BPV.  I admit it would be a complete and utter POS vs a human, but most players who fly DFs are looking to do hex work.  The 6 A-racks and only 1xPh1 and 2xPh2 really makes it a junk ship once the drones are gone (usually only a problem when facing a human).  Thus increasing the BPV (to improve the AI faced) wouldn't be a bad idea (bump it up 20?).

Side note.  In the tactical text (lower left hand part of the screen that shows your weapons, the drones were listed as ESG ("6X ESG 0-144 (144)").  Everything worked fine, just the text "ESG" looked a bit out of whack.

On the Z-MSC.

No crashes, no problems.  Not really much of a ship.  May actually be slightly too high on BPV.  Again, it had the same ESG text instead of Drone-A text listed in the tactical display in the lower left hand corner.

Anyway, thank you for making these lists.  I enjoy flying a lot of these rather "unusual" ships (Monitors ... go slow, carry big stick ... 'we don't need no stinkin' HET")

It looks like it crashes when the AI enemy is given a ship with more than 12 DC.

.. looks like the >12 DC idea works well when it's a player-controlled ship, but not when it's an AI-controlled ship. Crap.
Crap.

crap crap crap crap crap.

Everybody, I said CRAP.
