Request to Reclamation (OP) Players
« on: April 26, 2003, 04:45:03 pm »
First of all, the server's up. It crashed either just before or while I was logging in, and I cleared the errors and put it back up.

Now, the request:

PLEASE TRY NEUTRAL COOP.

We changed a setting in MissionMatching.gf based on a recommendation from TraceyG. We need to know if it had any effect, good or bad. So, if you see teammates on, same race or just allied, try some coop in neutral space and report your results.

Oh, and the Coalition is now winning 40 - 20. The Alliance needs some more help getting those VCs. If you see Dogmatix, be careful. He lost an expensive ship to a bug today, and seemed to be in the mood for blood.

Happy hunting.

Might I inquire what the gf setting is?
I am very interested in the neutral coop issue... as are most...

Well good news and bad news.

Good news is neutral co-op works beyond the first mission with same empire and allied empire players. Missions were convoys, couriers, and fleet action.

Bad news is that it doesn't work in all hexes. 1,12 works, 2,12 works, and 3,11 does not.

And the server is down too.

And after the server comes up again no co-ops work!

***This just in!***

Associated Press:

Quote:

The OP News Express reports that DV values between the ranges of 5 and 13 are able to be lowered on Mondays and Wednesdays only! All remaining DV are still able to be raised and lowered, but after each successful mission, you must completely log off the server and reboot your system and relog back on again.

Further rumors persist of strange and enigmatic DV fluctuations on Leap year days between the Earth hours of 2:00 AM and 7:00 AM.GMT.

An unnamed source also reported a fire in the kitchen galley. Although no injuries were reported, the truffle cakes and donuts were all lost. Despite this serious blow to an already deteriorating situation, moral remains high and spirits strong. There is a light at the end of this tunnel... somewhere...

EAW players of course have nothing to fear so please remain calm. EAW co-op in neutral hexes is just as stable and reliable as ever so there is no need to be alarmed. Time of day and day of week will NOT affect EAW co-op in any way. EAW co-op in neutral hexes is rock solid stable.

Thanks for the info. We'll look into it.

I did notice the map has been taking much longer to load when I log in. There may be DB errors that are getting worse.

You know, it seems to me that the longer load times started occuring after the new chat server was found.  Could that be the cause?

Actually, I was thinking it was after the chat server changes, but not immediately after. It may have been a problem introduced with the mission pack changes or other settings changes. Anything's possible. If it's just taking a while to initialize chat, it's not a big deal. On the other hand, if it's actually a map load problem (need to look at server while someone connects), those tend to spit out errors which could be causing other problems.

Could be bothh, I'll be looking into it.

Chat does take a bit longer to connect than GSA's and I will be working on that. As for DB issues, I'm hoping that work on a OP DB parcer will soon help some.

It's unfortunate .. I have no VB experience nor a compiler. I'm sure I could muddle along but...

.. has anyone asked TraceyG if she feels like taking on a VB project?

Worked with Cleaven a bit on the neutral co-op.  It works haphazardly, which is in keeping with the tresting Moggy and I did a few days prior.

Unrelated and heretofore a known problem, but I and others experienced missions after which we were not credited with the earned prestige.  In both cases last night it was after the "Fleet Action" mission.  Prestige awards of 600+ poinsts weren't credited on either side of the ledger.

Made Rear Admiral last night...bonus prestige was zero (0)!    That was a real downer...heheh.

Heh...I was counting on that bonus getting me back in C7 contention after I lost the 23K battle tug to a bug.  No bonus...and still 10K to go before I can afford a C7.  Boo!  heheh...

Yeah..it was a downer to see the zero-point bonus come up.  I had heard it might happen.

I'll be Admiral soon. (at 77K lifetime prestige)
.. I'll let you know the results when I play and pass that.

A check of the gf settings should tell you what the bonuses are for reaching rank and when.

Well, of course that's so, TG. I just wasn't home to be able to check!

The answer is 40K to reach rear admiral with a 10K bonus. I don't see an error that would cause it not to work at the moment. More inspection will be necessary, and more player feedback.

I just got Admiral and I *did* get the 15K.
Check the 10K line for a junk char?
