In regards to locked thread...
« on: April 25, 2003, 11:09:12 pm »
Heh...no problem here, Crimmy.  As I said in the thread itself.  I leave forum moderation up to the forum moderators.  I also said that if things change going forward, then I think the thread was worth it.

I certainly have no interest in pursuing any sort of satisfaction or diciplinary action within the Klingon Black Fleet.  You did what you felt you had to do as did I.  Zero hard feelings.

And so it goes...

Good. Are we done? I certainly hope the [censored] so.

Now lets drop all this he said she said bullsh*t and get to business. SG3 is cooming, LB3 is still going, and we need each and every member of this community to stick around and keep together.

I dont want to see anymore flame attacks until SG3 starts.. or unless I start them first...

Reclamation is also going on OP.  It would be significantly more fun if more people showed up.

What now? Are you suggesting we divide up the community between servers more?

I keep whittling away at the SG3 map... keep making it smaller... smaller... smaller... It keeps shrinking due to competition, drop in player numbers, stupid flames pissing ppl off to other games...

Reclamation, huh? When does it end? SG3 can wait... Or maybe the day of the big server is over? Hello LB4...

Reclamation should end May 1, though it's light enough that we'll leave it up longer if there's nowhere else for people to play. I wouldn't schedule around it.

Here I find this post very funny,Mind you that SG3 is going to be hosted on one of the XC servers.....................

You'll have to enlightend me on what exactly you've done for D2 in the last 6 months cuz I don't get impressed easily. So far, I've seen the following:

1) Dizzy putting in mucho hours on SG3 certainly more hours than you have put in.
2) Been given irresponsible assurances about web-casters and then dumped.

As for me, I'm trying to clean up the mess the SFC2.net admins are leaving behind, and getting quite tired off it, to be frank. First, by getting SG3 going. Second, check out this thread and especially read KBF-Crim's comments:

http://www.bozobits.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2045&start=0

As for saying a person needs to be yelled and cussed at to get the point across. That's abusive behavior and you know it. No one, and I mean no one deserves to be treated like that. I assume you are an educated person you must have a more sophisticated vocabulary to draw on.

Do that one too many times in the workplace and you are fired. Go ahead and try it if you don't believe me.

You know I really don't feel good about doing all this SG3 cleanup for the SFC2.net admins. Why don't you fire up your own Visual C++ compiler and cleanup your SFC2.net admin mess instead of relying on outsiders to do it. If you can't then I think it would be best it such people as yourself stay away from SG3. Because, if you do I will very much be tempted to ban your ass off the server. Why? Because, that's the way one has deal with people like you to get the message to stick.

He is going to try to ban someone from a server hosted by XC..Thats rich.

Actually Diz, I should think it abundantly obvious that all I did was point out another server that happned to be running right now that may be of interest to some poeple.

You mentioned LB3 (a very fine server) on EAW.  I merely sought to mention Reclamation (a very fine OP server).  Being the helpful, community-minded guy that I know you are, I'm sure you don't see a problem with this.

Well, to sideline this...

I tried running OP on the SQL db last night - it is in the same state
as EAW was when DarkElf and I were trying to hack the
SQL into / out of the executable a few years ago. (in vain)

The OP serverkit will start on the SQL db and even fill
the campaign info table! But that's where it stops at
100% CPU use and doesen't want to do anything more.
Presumably due to differences in the table (maphex...)
Additionaly it gave a gf entry error when the debug line was
added to the database gf when testing SQL. Which
tells me that SQL for OP has likely not been touched at all
since the original effort.

I'll take a closer look at the OP flatfile db and the code for
the EAW db parser to see if I can help figure out a db parser
for OP.

Whatever version we play big long running servers on,
we're gonna need a clean db.

Absolutely correct Rajnsaj...my sentiments exactly.
Do you have the code for the EAW Parser?

Yes I do, it is a VB project.

BBJ sent it to me a while ago,
I'm not sure I should just post it but
I already gave FireSoul a copy
so I'll go ahead and send you one too.
(I just e-mailed BBJ to confirm its OK)

I'm trying to set up an OP server so
I can mess up the database to look at
it. I got the default to run but getting stuck
a bit on running with custom missions and shiplist.

Just got the new LB3 files... off I go...

Cool, thanks for the Rajnsaj. What we also need is a layout of the OP DB flatfile. There is a partial layout for EAW floating around, but I haven't seen one for OP. I have Visual Basic but would much prefer to write a Parser in C++. I'll have a look at the VB code and see if I can convert it. The OP flatfile shouldn't bal all that different from the EAW flatfile, it shouldn't be too difficult to make the changes necessary then for an OP Parser.

I don't think there is an outline of the OP flatfile,
I have that summary of the EAW flatile if that might help...

(Got my OP test server up an running on the flatfile using
the OP Plus shiplist and NW's latest OP missions too... )

Good to hear Raj.

I have the EAW partial outlay of the EAW DB file, plus a few missing parts I've worked out myself. I have an OP server as well, but since you already have one, once your flatfile DB is filled with a few players and objects (and preferably a few dead objects as well that need removing) can you zip up the OP flatfile and send it to me and I'll compare it with the EAW flatfile for differences.

Sure Tracey, once I see a few corpses and a few real accounts on
the OP server I'll send along a compressed copy of the flatfile.
(I'm going to log on later and ALT-F4 out of a bunch of missions
to create dead AI ships...)

Since the vast majority of SG3 missions will be mine, I am going to admin at least the first week or so I can make all the appropriate server adjustments in the most efficient manner possible.  Once it's stable, I'll turn it over whomever wants to admin it so I can go BBQ somebody and have lotsa fun.

I would like to second this. Reclamation will end on May 1 or if GS3 is not ready by then, then  we will keep it up till Diz is ready to go (no longer than May 5 however).

Could you send that to me as well Tracy?

I had been working on reconfiguring the EaW parcer for OP a while back but conditions forced me to abandon the work. Now all my work is on the HDD of my old (and dead) laptop so if you could send me the code maybe I can contribute, even though I'll bestarting from scratch.
