The problems which led to it's removal from LB3 have all been found, and fixed...she really looks good.

Enjoy

Is this based on my work, or an independant entity?

Are we going back to it for LB3? Just wondering because it's down.

Careful jeff... The class you put the monitor and tugs in will cause shiploss and pp anomolies.

I had to rework the whole thing.

And thanks FS for all the tugs and monitors. I have been working on this shiplist for 3 months. And its still not finished ;D I can only imagine the time and effort you put into it.

And FS, you may want to change all Monitors to heavy battlecruiser class and adjust their bpv accordingly to keep players honest on the D2. The result of class, shiploss and your pp trade in values... sg3 ship bpv's have all been fudged. They remain cosistent with AI and PvP mission match-ups, but solve the problem of 'making a profit from a class disparity due to ship loss'.

Yes, it is based on your work.

You're OP+ shiplist inspired me to create a list for EAW that incorporates what I hope to believe is the best of the ships for D2 play.

LDR for Lyrans, Monitors, Battle and carrier Tugs, and Heavy War Destroyers.

Some of those ships reclassed for pricing for D2 play.

Also, for D2 purposes, Carriers have been reclassed to thier respective hull class once again because of  the sometimes whacky pricing scheme used in the carrier price modifier in the server kit.

And, there have been a few "fixes" to the stock ships in regards to proper ship class, shuttle loadouts, and missing power  (K-DWC).  Also, some splitting of hardpoints where it was felt applicable due to discussions of Race Moderators of SFC2.NET where some ships had a excess of 2 heavy weapons on one hardpoint.  (That is listed in the readme file)

Dizzy, can you be more clear on the shiploss problems you forsee for the tugs and mons?  The BPV of those ships would appear to match that of the class they are listed in...

For example: You have several CA's listed at over 190 BPV. You have several Battlecruisers listed at under 180.

On a server, the usual cost for BC's that I have seen are over 15k, while CA's are priced at 5k. And shiploss is based on BPV. It is possible to lose a CA and get it replaced with a BC, a net profit of 10k.

Did you make any changes since you emailed me that shiplist?

EDIT: Do most Monitor class vessels look the same? Big round bloated mass of weapons and engine? I could make a dlj mod just for Monitors... so you recognize them right off the bat, and possibly provide different textures for each race to differentiate  by color.

I'd be glad to host it for you, if you like.  I'm requesting a copy anyway, so if you want an FTP host just let me know and I'll post my copy there when I receive it.

Are the CA and BC prices you mentioned form the same race?  Some BC's are quite worthless.

Thanks for the offer

Mog has already offered to host, but I pulled the download link as I wanted to run over my classing per Dizzy's remarks.  I made a few tweaks and it should be available for download soon.

thanks

Ya Jeff... You just dont want this:  Gorn   CA   G-MON   HEAVY_BATTLECRUISER   145

Whats gonna happen is a CA class ship at 175 BPV and a server shiploss at 80% of original may net you the Gorn Mon. And if the server has BC's going for 15k and CA's going for 5k, You make 10k losing your ship.

Server BPV's and Classes are tweaked on sg3... I dunna want to police ppl cheating like this.

I'll be reactive vs Glicko...

interesting and valid points..
.. any good and valid fix can be port back into the parent OP+ easily enough. Do you have a list of recommendations for me?

Well, hehe FS...

The dynaverse is screwy. The AI matchups are kinda random depending on things. So no matter what BPV you choose, its likely one Monitor or Tug out of 3x ships wont screw things up if they are mis represented by BPV.

For instance... You have a Monitor or tug at 145 bpv. Thats their combat value.  If you up them to 180 to keep their battlecruiser classification with the majority of the other monitors that are alreaady above 180, then when drafting this 145bpv monitor, it will be outclassed.

Its pretty complicated. There are so many ways to alter it. Reclassify it as a Heavy Cruiser to get the server ship cost right/balanced with the other ships at 145bpv or increase it to 180, leave it a BC and deal with the mis matched AI, which is so random anyway and would seldom be chosen as a support ship, it wouldnt really affect anything.

I just fudged the numbers how I saw fit. I dont think anyone can come up with a solution unless we came up with a universal system that takes into effect the server ship multipliers, ship loss, and BPV combat ratings... which unfortunately are tied into both.

Are all monitors about the same in design, roughly big round pods blazing with weapons? I'd like to do a mod for them to identify them easier in battle. I'd appreciate some ideas...

Exactly. Firesoul's list probably shouldn't be changed too much because so much of the issue is the server settings. Best to maintain a default OP+ which is also fully GSA compatible, and let each admin do changes as necessary to fit his own server settings.

I'm sure he's referring to the Heavy Battlecruiser class not just a CA called a battlecruiser like your Z-BC or the G-BC.  It'd be your Z-BCH and the G-BCH

Though I guess you could consider your Z-BCH as worthless which is fine, it ain't no C7.......

No the BCH is no C-7,  the C-7 is a fine ship. 4 More power, one more Phaser 1, more manoueverable. The only thing the Z-BCH has over it is the ability to launch two shuttles at once.

The Z-BCH is more suited to pack work (as most Kzin sips are).

I thought I entered all Monitors as "special" to prevent use in the D2?..
.. I'll leave mine as is then.. because my shiplist wasn't d2 oriented originally.

Ayep..paid 39K for my "carrier" on LB3.  Pretty cheap for a B10V, eh?

Thanks for picking up the K-DWC fix, too!
