Played SFC3 online for the first time
« on: April 24, 2003, 07:39:27 pm »
WOW...I wish I started sooner.  I was flying a Defiant (I know, it's a cliche).  Hooked up with 2 other defiants who were other gamers...we were doing pretty well, we took out a Starbase and my ego started to get the best of me.  I did my "Antimatter mine dance" and eventually got my a$$ kicked by a Romi battlecruiser.  The AI online is a lot hader than singleplayer.  Did some sweet moves and he captured me with his tractor and it didn't take long for him to finish me off.  After I was destroyed I stuck around to see the other defiant bite it the same way I did.  My nickname was Alar (Andorian).  I'd like to join a fleet now.  I 'd like to go as a Fed...but it seems there are plenty of Feds out there..if the Klingons are short people, I could play klinks, (thinking of a klingon name will be interesting)...flying a D7 K'Tinga would be fun......if anybody has any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks!

K't'inga isn't considered to be a good ship.

But there are a lot of Federation players.

All 3 other need help.

Glad you like the game.

The Ktinga is not a good ship from experience (though it is lacking). However, it can be made rather effective if you refit it with Ion cannons (they are nasty).

Upgrade to the beta patch if you haven't already.  There are some very fun servers on the other side.  TNZ, Dom Wars, to name but 2.  (Chirp in with what I missed).  These two servers run mods on the original game.  You'll need to download these as well but the offer so much more.  I think both of these introduce another 70-80+ ships, new missions, etc.

To find out more look on the dyna 3 forum.

Thanks for the warm greetings...I've been monitoring the taldren board for awhile.  I'm actually pleased with SCF3.  It's a lot different than SFC2, but I got used to it.  I think the ships are more balanced in SFC than the previous editions.  The Romi's have been short changed and now I think they are more balanced with fed and kilnks.

I've been a fan of Sakai after I read the semi-autobiography "Samurai".  It's a great book.

uss saburo sakai fits well with the Borg busting Defiant class, as those ships are truely samurai's of Federation.

Look forward to "flying" with all of you...
