Damage texture woes
« on: April 23, 2003, 10:30:31 am »
Hey everyone, I just noticed that sometimes the models I make damage textures for don't want to cooperate. The damage textures are the right format, they're the right size, the filename... ala the Taldren modeling instructions. But when you smack 'em around in game the damage doesn't appear. When the ship eventually blows up you can see the damage applied to several parts of the ship finally. What gives?

Try deleting the *.x files in your model's directory, the game will make updated ones. Possibly you tried out the ship or viewed it in the model tool program before creating the damage textures and they were not included in the cached direct X file.

Could that same problem be solved by simply using the recacher?

You have to delete the *.x files, then use recacher on the model folder.. I suggest using your search in your start button menu and search for *.x files... delete them all for the SFC 3/assets/models directory.... then open recacher and navagate and select the Models folder in general.. do not select any specific model folder... then click OK.. all models will then recache and make a new *.x file... after which, close the recacher program when the models stop changing and the last model gets big in the viewer.. when you close the recacher program, it will ask to send an error report, just click no and ignore it.. the models are ready for game play....
