And does the limit include every line item such as bases, planets, etc, or just the stuff that shows in the yards?

OP 2525: 64
OP 2538: 128

You know that 2nd column in the shiplist that says "FF", "CL", "CA", "DN", "BS", etc..
.. that's the limit for the number of ships.. per that.. per race.

.. it includes planets, bases per type, etc.

The last ship listed (in the order of the file) for that category/race will not be shown in any shipyard for purchase/use. I think it's not loaded..

.. so basically, the list is truncated at 64. (128 for OP. teehee. ;-)

Can you imagine how full of crap a given shipyard would be if you had 64 frigates per a given race? Oh my...can you say "survey frigate, survey frigate refit, commando frigate, commando frigate refit, ice cream truck frigate plus?"

I haven't looked at the OP+ shiplist of yours to any great degree (I perused the Klingon shiplist). Did you ever come close to even the 64 ship limit for any class of hull in any race?

Not to the same extent as Lyrans.

FS wrote a little script to pick out those that were over in order to flesh things out before the patch came around and the limit doubled. Maybe he can post the results for the current standings

Many races have actually gone beyond 64..
.. but don't worry about crap in the shipyard.. it's all very optimized. .. unless someone else like D2 Admins decide to let "SPECIAL" pop up in shipyards and such.
