Mizia and SFC3- Does it still work?
« on: April 20, 2003, 01:14:32 pm »
Title says it all.  MIzia was based on the damage allocation chart in SFB.  Is this preserved in SFC3?  My impression from David Farrell was that this was no longer in play.  Damage was to be more physically based in SFC3. Anyone got any proof to say yeah or nay?  Let's remember subtargeting systems makes mizia sort of unnecessary, sort of.

I don't know if Mizia works against weapons and power systems but it doesn't work very well for killing/injuring officers. Considering the massive effect officers can have on a ship's performance in SFC3, I believe that the inherent vulnerability officers have to alpha strikes should probably be exploited instead of doing Mizia attacks. SFC3 doesn't have officer "understudies" so any lost officer is replaced by a clueless redshirt instead of a trained second shift specialist. The difference between a legendary officer and a raw recruit is enormous.

Going off-topic a bit, but I was under the impression that you could re-assign officers from one position to another. I've never been able to do it, though. If it's actually possible, then you could actually make those "understudies" by training an officer up to legendary status, then exchanging them with an officer from another post and letting each officer undergo a new round of training. If anyone knows how to shuffle officers about, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

As far as the Mizia goes...I don't think it's possible under SFC3. Like Lepton said, it's kinda unnecessary. I have noticed, though, that hits tend to do a lot of power damage if not specifically targeted for other systems. I believe the current state of damage allocation under the beta patch actually tones down the amount of power hits from ver.1.0, but I'm not 100% sure. It may also depend on your tactical officer's rating.

Further OT: even if you have a officer who is adept at all six, you are still going to be short of an offer when someone gets injured. Since although officers can be moved around, I don't think they can pull two duties at once.
To move peopel around. you simply trade an engineer with a Helmsman, and over time, the Helms man would become an engineer (hopefully). But hte training interval is so painful to fly its often not worth it.

As for Mizia, I honestly have no idea... Subsystem-targeting pretty much makes Mizia moot.
