I think the subject line says it all.

Thanks!

Why would we need another forum to look at???

Aren't there plenty enough as it is??

consider the post volumne in the General Forum (not a lot), I think we can do with just one Forum.

No need for another forum.

As long as we keep SFC1, SFC3, and the hypothetical GAW together, then that's okay by me.

"General Forum" is for general chat.
.. maybe what we need is a more focused SFC1/2/3 forum.

Whether it is under the "General" tab or not, I think it would be in everyone's interest if we could just have dedicated areas for the different games.  More often than not, subject lines do NOT specify to which version of a game the thread pertains.  Also search functions are a pain in that searching for stuff on, say, OP, pulls up a lot for SFC3 and EAW.

Even if we combined SFC1, SFC2EAW, and SFC2OP under one forum, general or otherwise, I think it would be very helpful in searching and organization.  It would also limit confusion, since all of these SFC games are OBVIOUSLY so similar, a lot of people might be downloading files that do not apply to their game, or getting advice to problems that do not pertain to their game, or be performing searches with results that do NOT apply.  Etc. Etc.

Also, since the overwhelming volume of posts have to do with SFC3, which is to be expected given that is the most recent release, many recent SFC2OP and SFC2EAW posts get buried pretty quickly.

I think there are probably enough forums here.

All of the major fan-run boards have forums, like XenoCorp and SFC3.net (sorry, don't mean to leave anyone out) and BattleClinic will be opening forums as well soon.

Seems overkill to segment it further.  MHO.

How about a general guideline?

EG have posters (though most do ID which game they are asking about/referring to) put [EAW] or [OP] or [SFC3] just as a prequalifier so those not familar with this forum can easily ID what game the poster is talking about?

EG

[EAW] Fed photon's don't work!

[OP] That blasted D2 Hex Value Problem

or

[SFC3] Mission help in Klingon Campigan Needed

etc.

What about topics such as "Blessed be the Cheese Makers" which apply to SFC3 and SFC2 EAW but not to SFC1 (Gold Edition) and the hypothetical GAW. Of course some could also extend the topic to a higher level and refer to all manufacturers of dairy products and PC software in general, necessitating a switch to the off topic forum which is even less organised. Perhaps the OT forum is the place to work on first.

Look, it's quite simple.

SFC OP threads are not to leave the SFC OP forum until I come and get them.
(Right, not to leave the forum even if you come and get them.)
No, no, UNTIL I come and get them.
(Until you come and get them, we are not to enter the forum.)

Anyhow, despite forums popping up at other websites, which are all well and good, the fact is that TALDREN is the home base of SFC, period.  And who knows how long any of the fan-based websites will be up, anyhow.

Besides, we have folders for GeneralStarfleetCommand forum to cover stuff for GAW or stuff that crosses all generations of SFC.
We have DynaverseIIExperiences forum to cover D2 server stuff.
We have Dynaverse3Experiences forum for the same for D3.
We have SFCModels for models for ALL the platforms, which frankly is kind of a pain, as it isn't always clear WHAT version of SFC a model belongs with, but I digress.
We have the SFCMissionScripting forum for SFC2 API Missions.
We have SFC Mods for D2 Server stuff.
We EVEN have an SFC3 BETA forum to cover the "Open Beta."
And for Pete's sake, we have an SFCFanFiction forum, too.

I'm just saying, it seems like so much common sense to have an SFC2 forum and a separate SFC3 forum.  It certainly makes more sense than having an SFC3Beta forum.  Or a Fan Fiction forum for that matter (duck!).  That way, people can post their mods/models under the appropriate GAME in the first place.

Whatever.  It's certainly not a life-or-death thing.  It's just I find the forum organization a little lacking considering it REALLY is covering 3 separate, yet confusingly enough, very similar, computer games.  Seems to me you'd want a way to neatly compartmentalize discussions and links to files appropriate to those separate games.

Personally all people have to do is specify in the Subject line what Game thier question, model or topic is about. I don't own
sfc3 but i find some of the topics and models nice to look at and fun to read.

And therein lies the problem. Good luck at getting people to use common sense I too find it a bit annoying to try and answer a question or to DL something and have it be for the wrong game. I do believe that it would fragment the community though if we had seperate forums. This happens to a small, but still disturbing to me, degree already and I could see seperate forums making it worse.
