I just hate early era.  To understand everything I say early on about a server, you  must take that into account.

Thats something Ive been meaning to ask.  What starting ship in early would the Feds rather start in.  I almost made it the FFG, as it seems that most Feds downgrade to the thing almost immediately.  I know both the DD and CL suck and the Feds dont have it easy in early era until about 2265 when the CC+ comes out.

I would take the FFG over the DD or CL.  I would take the DDG over just about anything until the CLC comes out.

hmmm.. I think I'll go KAT for SG3...  Drones have a certain appeal to me.  And I like the challenge of trying to get slow ones through AMD!!!

I have enjoyed my time in a Z-DD on LB3.  The unfortunate thing is that I can't seem to feel right about flying Mirak when the Coalition is so badly outnumbered.  I realize this isn't always the case...it just is when i'm on and I feel bad...heheh.

Generally, those few times I've been on and the Coalition has the upper hand, I'll go log in and fly Mirak.  Still...the Alliance is winning the battle for the center and I always feel bad about contributing to that for some reason...heheh.

 Not that I fly freddy, but one thing i remember from the old days......  some old and wise SFB players stated the importance of Phasers over Heavy Weapons. So, if I recall hearing correctly, the CL has a fairly high compliment of phasers in comparison.  Myself I'd much rather rely on my phasers than Heavies.  One thing I loved about the ROC was unleashing its phaser barrage at close range.  Plus they also work well at extended range.  (Granted its nice to follow in a nice big red plasma R)

The DD and CL were barely decent SFB ships, but in realtime SFC, they're hopelessly outclassed in most cases, especially in Evil Dave missions. Well, in SFB, ships generally had a weakness.  The Fed DD had lots of photons, but not enough power.  It made moving backwords very popular.  Without reverse, the DD lost a lot of it's SFC power.

The CL was based on an older design, but 6 p-1 at that price and 30 power...  is nice.  You need to use ECM and shield reinforcement to your advantage.  For the BPV the the was a very good ship in SFB.  I think it's a better ship in SFC than most give it credit.  It's just harder to fly than the DDG or FFG.  But with it's power curve and ability to take damage, it can be deadly at less that 100 bpv in early(repeat, In early).

The DDG is a great ship in SFC & SFB.  Take a DD take away the power hungry photons and give yoiu missles(and/or add) and you have a winner.  Shows EXACTLY the flaw in Taldren's G-rack.
