not to make everyone switch voice comms or anything, but i'm sort of a conoisseur of them, to say.
I've used RW, BFC, Teamspeak, Teamsound, Gamevoice.. you name the voice comm s/w i've used it. Then, I used
http://www.ventrilo.com , Ventrilo. Absolutely blows away all of its predecessors. it boasts telephone or greater voice quality, the ability to 'queue' everyone so that ppl just don't speak over each other chaotically, if 2 messages come to you, it plays the 1st to arrive in real-time and then plays the 2nd seamlessly, without any chaotic din.
ALSO! it allows you to import .WAV files and Text-To-Speech (TTS), for playback to other ppl that have them as well. You could take samples from past star trek movies, shows, other genres (one of my favs is Bruce Willis saying 'Yipeekiyay mofo' from die hard
), and etc and have them there to taunt your enemy/friends with. It takes a LITTLE bit of work, as long as you know how to browse through windows explorer and read a few help files, its very easy to do though. I imagine MOST ppl here wouldn't have a problem setting up the expanded features like the .WAV files and TTS.
its a FREE product and has better quality. i highly recommend it to expand your multilpayer gaming experience
The only thing i haven't tested with it is Dial-up. i'm not sure how it works, i imagine fine, but lower quality.
