Exploding ship question-please help

Ok I have added custom missions- not done by me.  This is in SFC/OP.  The mission in question seems fine, it has worked correctly a dozen times.  Then I ran it again with 2 ships and 1 of them blew up as soon as it loaded.  The ships had both loaded fine in dozens of missions before.  I reviewed it in the film room.  I made note of all the ships present and checked there folders and the shiplist to make sure that was ok. It was.  There were no asteroids or planets so it couldn't have been a misplaced asteroid.

Can anyone give me an idea of what to look for to fix it?

You know, I'm not sure if this is a bug or a dubious section of planned code.  Whenever I played OP, say I take fleet of three starships and leave the starting position for our targets, one sometimes just blows up along the way!  It doesn't always happen and there's no apparent pattern to it.  It could well be an intentionally programmed "random" factor.

You may be right.  I noticed it before but not often. I made my mod very difficult by high cost ships and supplies. A mine costs 11.  Lay 8 mines and it hard to save for the next ship.  A battleship 15,800.  So I always save cause I can't afford to replace em so I reload.

That happened to me too, just randomly it seemed. A pirate mod I made had this one ship that would blow up for no reason- never got to battle it. Good to hear it wasnt just me.
