Gorn 3-ZB
« on: April 14, 2003, 10:47:29 pm »

This is a design for a Gorn cruiser from 1981 by Allie C. Peed III. It's one of a number of ships I've been playing with, mainly TAS and oddball FASA stuff, like the Kzinti Traitor's Claw from "The Slaver Weapon" and another Kzin design from Dragon #104. The 3-ZB has no true break mod or HPs. I'm not happy with the textures, but figured if anyone wanted the mesh to play with I'd send it out for someone to host, should they be so inclined.

I love the design. There are alot of people in the forum that could spuce up the textures.  Hope someone hosts this.

Always nice to see a variation on Gorn themes. I like the mesh a lot, the textures are not all that bad. If you want a retexture, hopefully someone will step up for this beautiful mesh.

Pleae post a pic of the Traitor's Claw. I loved that Dragon Magazine and I once owned it too and put Kzinti into our FASA RPG group not long after that article was available. Even crashed a *cough* Miranda Class on Niven's Ringworld in my FASA TMP Campaign....

Here's a couple of views of the ship with modifications of Taldren's GCA textures applied. Still not the greatest, but an improvement.

As to the Kzin:

The ship in the foreground is the design by Roger Raupp from Dragon #104. The Traitor's Claw police ship trails her. Yeah, they're pink--That's the color they were on TAS.

This shot shows the original police cruiser better.

Here's a shot of the Kzin with another WIP.

3dot14, give me a couple of days to tweak a couple of things and I'll get in touch with you about getting these out.

Hello Capt. Sarmox
Great job on the Gorn and Kzinti ship. I was wondering when someone would use those Gorn blueprints. Glad to see that some one made the attemp and looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

that gorn could double as a b5 ship too. Textures could use a bit more in the high-res department but otherwise good scheme and stuff.

The green ship is a Klingon Hasparath-class cargo carrier. I'm surprised this ship hasn't shown up before. The design is from a set of blueprints by David Nielsen from 1983. He suggested it as the design of the Kobayashi Maru. AFAIK, it predates FASA's Lotus Flower design by a year or so. The textures are simply colored sections of the plans wrapped over the mesh. She really should have a solid set of Klingon textures for the standard ship and a UFP civilian set for the Kobayashi Maru.

I contacted 3dot14 about getting the 3-ZB and Kzin posted, so the ball's rolling. I'll post again when they're up.

Sorry about the delay. I had 300 pages of a 500 page book to finish. Can't really moderate a discussion group if you don't read the darn thing (Lois McMaster Bujold's The Curse of Chalion, if you care, a decent self-contained fantasy novel).

I sent to ship to 3dot14 so he may have it up pretty soon. However, I thought I'd try this too.

We'll see if Bellsouth likes that.

I haven't gotten the related webpages etc done yet.
(fileplanet seems to be pretty clogged up this week... don't quite know why hopefully the wait time will clear up after easter)

Seems to work fine.

Lets get that Klingon Freighter up soon. I'd be interested to see what it looks like with alternate textures.
