Badlands Status
« on: April 13, 2003, 12:31:27 pm »
For those who hadn't yet noticed, Badlands is back up again. It suffered a set of errors overnight, or this morning. I can't get the last server .exe window to close out, but it appears it is not interfering with running the server, so I've restarted and left the fossil remains of the crash for Castrin to figure out.

The server is using the very latest OP Mission Pack from Dave Wessels.

If the server goes missing again, let me know.

Ran a couple of missions with Jeff, but it took forever to get a mission in homespace; and please do something about the shipyards. If it's not a tug or freighter, it's obsolete.

FireSoul is on that one already, Ted.
Expect something very soon, as in very very soon.

Ok Nomad..
.. time to update the shiplist. I wanna see all your faces after you see the shipyard starts spewing out new ships.

Great news! I'll take the next half hour or so to put it into Badlands.

Unfortunately, as I was trying to access the server remotely to update the shiplist, I discovered I couldn't get anything to show up on the screen, and then couldn't get in at all. It may have to wait until Castrin gets home. I'll keep trying, though.

To tell the truth, I don't know -- haven't had time to look. I'm assuming it is. If it's not, then it won't have the new list anyway.

It wasn't in the list.
When is Castrin due back?

I see the server. The server is up.

Someone needs to update the description text blurb (if possible) to say "OP+ 2.0".

Is it using the new shiplist? At this point, I'm out of the loop. I spoke briefly with Castrin when he got home last night, and tipped him to the new shiplist, but I am now out of town and can't access D2 or the server.

Wacky...

I finally got around to installing OP onto my new box and damned if there were zero servers available just about all day, yesterday.  I think I got into Badlands once and orded a D7W (starting sgip is some crappy Klingon tug.  when I came back, it was done.

EAW servers were down, too.  Got onto one..The Wheel, I think...ordered a D5L.  Waited for delivery...never came.  Logged off to do something else...came back..nothing in the server list.

I actually then went to SFC3 ( *gasp*) and really couldn't fid anything worht playing on that didn't require the beta patch or some mod download.

All in all, bad day for SFC, yesterday...heheh.

It seems like the stars have aligned so that all admins are planning/designing and not hosting. The only OP servers I've seen at all have been Badlands and our (SFCX) Reclamation test server that I was putting up and taking down all weekend.

Supposedly there are more campaigns/servers on the way, but it certainly wasn't a peak weekend.

Now that the new shiplist is up and running..

.. there's still a major lack of CCs, BCs and up in the shipyards.

Yeah, I think the settings in place on Badlands give the smaller ships such a good chance of being produced that the shipyard fills its quota on smaller ones and then stops making ships before it has a chance to create the big boys.
