I just call it a 'Ronson,' cause it always lights up on the first strike.

I'd have to say it needs at least 1000 more for weps and another rear hardpoint.

Let it just be said that the WarChicken is the reason that I gave my copy of SFC3 (and the Nemisis ticket within) to my friend's 8 Y.O. who has begun to like Trek. Maybe since it is on her level- and since she expects the Feds to be better anyway- she can enjoy it where as I thought it was the biggest waste of $49.95 that I have ever been suckered into paying.

IMHO nothing can fix the WarWeevel short of an appology and a refund from Actovision, along with a new SFB-based title with Andros and Tholians and seperate WYN and LDR races- and maybe an Omega expansion for it.

I usually give it a nicer name, just to let it look a little bit more mean. I hate the fact that it is either slow or weak. (it is slow if you put a lvl10 core in and it is weak when you get a lvl9 core in it). But i can manage to fly one with some success, strangely. Come give me just some extra engine space...............please??

Just don't come crying back to these forums "Warbirds are too powerful!!!" when the patch comes out and roms can hit stuff with plasmas (and probes are no longer broken)...assuming the patch release stays on track for next week, come back to this thread then, you might just laugh and wonder what you were thinking. I admit though, I would not want to step into one in the current version (1.00), in that regard they are indeed an inferior ship to the Raptor or Vor'cha (and any fed ship with a decent payload of Q-torps).

Warbird could stand for some improvement? yes.

A deathtrap? No.

If you can actually pull off the "decloak close on the aft quarter" thing and the plasma hits, you'll punch through a Sovies shield and light him up with one strike. I've given a few Sov drivers a big repair bill in my bird....

Warbirds look like mean suckers and they can be just that. Playing against AI Warbirds is like playing against other AI, dead simple. Who here has taken a good Human Warbird - Rom player and spanked em good (no not in that way damnit!)? Well I think they have there merrits, and soon they will be even better. I will be getting mysellf one for sure!

I belive KOTH Kortez handed me my ass in one.  I was flying Sphere Prime, he had Warbird.  I quickly ran when I realized I was about to recive a pointy ear upgrade.

Does this mean we're getting a Warbird with a hippie paint job just like the old hippie D-7?

Then it would be the Freebird.

The warbird isnt that weak.  I think it is about even with the sovereign.  sure ai's are easy to beat, but a human player is much different.  Also, a galaxy is supposed to be able to beat a warbird, (even though in the game it usually can't).  If anyone should be complaning about anything being weak it is the sov.

Note: I am referring to human players strictly cause ai's suck ;-)

Why should a Galaxy be able to beat a Warbird?

Watch "Tin Man"  Where the Warbird fires ONE round of fire, destroying 70% of the Enterprises shields.

Watch "The Defector"  Where 2 Warbirds fire a shot apeice and Picard says
"This is just a tap on the sholder.  Other wise we still wouldn't be here."

The D'deridex class warbird should out gun a Galaxy class starship.
A Sovereign should still out gun it, but that's what Valdore is for.

I suppose you could attach a small .gif to the bow of the ship with a certain LED scanner...

"I am the Knight Automotive Roving Robot; KARR if you prefer.  I am the prototype of the car of the future."

And while we are at it, lets see if we can find David Hasselhoff and put him at the controls...

I've said it twice, and I'll probably end up saying it three times more. The problem lies not in the design of the Warbird! The problem is twofold. Namely, the disruptors and torpedoes. They constantly do a pittance of damage (disruptor) or always FAIL to do any damage at all (5% accuracy torpedo, anyone?). That, and the fact that engines need work and cloak sucks.
