Beta server suggestions?
« on: April 04, 2003, 09:11:25 am »
Can anyone suggest a Beta server to start with?  And what to expect in one? Gameplay wise...  For example, stronger AI's? Does weapons perform better I.E. plasma that hits, or stronger Ion beams? Anyone have any tips let me know.. Thanks...

you're right on both counts.  Plasma does hit harder as does the Ion Cannon.  If you can't make it into The Neutral Zone server(it's got a 100 meg download) then I'd go with the GFL server.

AI isn't much different.  Turning is different and I think AMM's got nerfed(I never used them except for planetary assaults so I don't really know).  The Feds seem to be crying a lot more so they may have gotten the short end of the patch.  The Cloak is much harder to detect

If you want to see what the patch did, play on a non-modded server like GFL or GOC. Modded server (TNZ. TNG, etc) have so many things changed on them that you could never be sure if what you are experiencing is the effect of the patch or the mod.

Wiz

P.S. Although mine doesn't require a download, it does have things changed on it so it's not a true representation of the patch

Get the TNG Mega Mod.  The biggest difference between the TNG Mega Mod and the TNZ mod is that the TNG Mega Mod has a special batch file which you can use to disable or enable the mod, so you can disable it to go back and play with unmodded people.  With TNZ you have to reinstall to play with an unmodded person.

(BTW I'm hosting the TNG Mega Mod server )
