The SOS might respond to a Gorn/Fed SOS
« on: March 31, 2003, 02:12:31 am »
Well DOE isn't exactly how we in the SOS fleet had pictured it, seems like not many Federation or Gorn players are participating with any regularity.  I know what it is like to be on the under represented side, and so do my fleetmates.  Therefore if any of the Gorn or Federation fleets are planning on making a serious effort to win this server, I will ask my fleetmates to switch sides, if Herr Burt allows us that is (he forbids this in his rules posting currently).  I cannot guarentee that they will but I will ask them too.

So if any of Gorn or Federation groups want to make a serious effort on DOE please post here, if you are not that interested in the server,  I don't think my pilots could make enough difference by themselves. So if we see enough response we might switch if Herr Burt will allow it.

There has been some discussion of this already among our pilots, but noone wishes to break server rules on our D2 debut,   and additionally we don't want to butt in if our help isn't wanted.

Sorry to disappoint, but things in real life have picked up for me.... add to this that the current turn needs to be finished for my fleet's game... and well.... not too much time for DOE right now.

But I think I will have some time this evening to play footsies with plasma.... don't know about everyone else though...

Personally, I would be happy to help the Alliance by flying Federation or Gorn and thus bolster their nearly non-existant numbers.  Flying for the Federation might actually be a nice change of pace from lobbing plasma all the time.

The Federation welcomes any help they can get from the SOS, although, I don't know how the GDA will feel about that...

I cannot speak for the GDA, or my Federation allies, but I do not want the SOS help, thank you.  I have flown twice against SOS pilots, both time it was 2 (SOS) vs 1 (me).  I offered battle both times, and died (quickly only once) both times.  I have a few scores to settle

As far as competition, I will fight PvP versus anyone, anytime.  Chat was down this weekend, so it was extremely difficult to arrange a meeting of enemies.  I (unluckily) stumbled on Athene and Brutus by accident.

However, from a competition standpoint, I understand the Romulan frustration at a lack of human opponents.

If a few SOS consider switching, would that help player numbers?  I don't really think so.  We need the established fleets to show up in force...something that is not happening on the Alliance side.  I know the GDA is down to about 6-8 effectives...and we never seem to have more than 1 or 2 pilots on at any given time.  Can't speak for the Fed fleets.

Maybe we need to consider a server where it is up only a portion of each day, to try and concentrate player numbers into a shorter timeframe.  Or maybe a server up only on weekends, but the 'weekend' spans all time zones so everyone has an opportunity to fly.

In any event, if a portion of SOS wants to fly Fed/Gorn..you are most welcome.  I'll just have to get a rematch with a few of you on some other server

It's starting to look, more and more, like that a new recruitment drive is need to revitalize the Fed forces for D2 like was done with the Klingons and the KBF in AOTK.  Obviously, the current Fed fleets are not interested very much in D2 servers based on DOE results even though it has problems with mandatory missions in Allied space. This did not stop the GDA.

I hope some Fed player interested in D2 servers can rise up to the "recruitment" challenge like Dogmatix did for the KBF in AOTK.

One never knows, a recruitment drive might go a long way in persuading non-fleet affiliates (such as myself) to vary thier playing habits.  Of course, I deny that such a die hard Romulan like me would have ever tried his hand at piloting a Warp Frisbee or a Flying Bathtub, but one never knows........  Its all about having fun.....

You could call it Mercenary Recruitment if ya like.........
