Newbie Patch Question for SFC 2
« on: January 25, 2003, 12:34:20 pm »
Hey, my friend gave me an old copy of SFC2 that he doesn't play anymore, and it installed fine and runs fine.

However, when I downloaded the patch "SFC2PATCH2002-2036.exe" and tried to install it, it keeps giving me an error saying that there is no free space available on my drive, but in reality I have over ***  12GB *** free on that drive.

What gives?  Anyone know what is going on with this?

Thanks!

Well that's a new one...

Try Scandisk and Defragmenter first.

What OS are you on? (if win xp or 2k, do you have full admin previledges? Or do you have any "quota" system on your profile?)

I see you mentioned "that" drive... is it possible the patcher is trying to install to the wrong drive? (one that doesn't have enough space)

I'm using Win98SE, my C: drive has 12 gigs free, my D: drive has 53 gigs free.

I scandisk and defrag once a week.

I have no idea what the problem is.

Is it possible it is somehow trying to install the patch to my CD-ROM drive?  There doesn't appear to be anyway to redirect it to another location, so I don't know how I would get it to change it's mind, so to speak...

It should automatically try to place it wherever you installed SFC2. I'm running the same OS. My C drive is my main and my D drive is my backup. You don't have some kind of memory cache for ROM set up do you? If you do it will withhold the memory because you are saving it for something else. The CD drive should be the E or F drive, depending on how many you have (A is the floppy drive and B is left for an external drive if you have one). Take a look at what drive it is saying doesn't have enough memory and that will give you a place to look for problems.

Can Win98Se even read drives that big? I thought the sectors would be humungous if those are single drives. I divided my 40 gig into 5 8 gig drives, much less maintainance.
