Why is it that whenever I go onto any server in Dynaverse, I always see a huge number of federation players and only a small number of klingons, and an even smaller number of Romulans.

I just want to know why everyone likes the federation so much. I personally think the Romulans are awesome.

Is it that you get some sort of pleasure out of seeing the feds win every server? Do people just like the ships? Are they really any better?

So tell me, why does everyone play as the federation in Dynaverse so much?

Some people, like myself, genuinely do prefer the Federation. For me, it's not about l33tness or whatever, I just happen to refer Federation mainly from a role-playing perspective, I suppose.

I suggest you give the GFL public server a try. The Federation rarely has that much of a majority, and even then, I wouldn't exactly say the Federation has the upper hand right now (damn Borg).

I can honestly say, I just like the ships, I would much rather have a large or even better, larger fleet of Klinks roms and even borg to fight but unfortunately it just doesn't work that way.

the simple fact that trek fans (or non fans) are more exposed to the federation than the other races, so they're the obvvious choice for newcomers, would be cool if most of them migrated to other races after they learned the game tho

Some will continue playing them cuz they like them, others just want to be on the winning side..ok, im not going anywhere with this, so bye

I'm not a newcommer, I've had SFC since the first release (although I haven't played online that long), I have always played the federation because I like the ships better. I found them more interesting to fly. Just my opionion.

No offense intended, but I've found the Federation the easiest race to fly. I'll fly Klingon or Rom most of the time just for that fact that there is ~a little more~ thinking involved.

I've dropped SFC3 after 4 weeks of play, it's already old. (And to consider, I'm in the age group this game was designed for and I still love SFC2 one-hundred times over.)

None takes, but I'lll give you that, they are easier to fly, more balenced, certainly more firepower. In the original, my favorite was the federation (frigate in specific) but I also liked the Klingons because of the manuverablility, its all relative to what you like or are interested in.

To begin with I never played the Star Fleet board game, although I had seen it played at gaming conventions.

About a year or so ago a friend of mine told me about "this great internet game" where you can play Star Trek ships and join one of eight races.

He also told me about always fighting overwhelming numbers of Feds. (Blue Horde, Blue Plague, Blue Menace, etc.)

Which is exactly why, when I purchased the game, I chose to fly Klingon.

Actually, I initially wanted to fly Gorn, but the first server I logged on the Gorn had all been wiped out.

So, next best thing....

Since then I have flown Klingon, I will probably always fly Klingon. I enjoy the people I fly with. We usually seem to be the second most popular race, although in many cases it is a distant second.

I respect the many folks who fly Federation loyally. You see them out there in their smaller numbers, its like they've always been there.

I do agree with one of the earlier comments that most new players fly Federation. That is understandable as that is the basis of the show, the game, in effect, everything!

I miss all the Mirak, Hydrans, and Gorn.

Sorry Lyrans, just didn't see that much of you but I know you are out there, somewhere........

On a serious note it does seem somewhat unbalancing when you have massive numbers of Feds flying against pitifully small numbers of other races. I will agree that on most of the servers I've been (only 2 or 3) the Romulans are the least represented of all.

I am glad people are flying borg! It gives me hope when I see people doing something I can't do. How the hell you tell what damn direction you're flying with a bloody 8ball or a d4 is beyond me!?!

I don't think there is any fair way to balance numbers v/s races. Probably the Feds will ALWAYS have the most players on a server. I wish it was different, but I don't see it.

I think another issue here is DEDICATED PLAYERS! I remember seeing the Mirak WHOOP ASS with their small, but very coordinated and organized group! But that is because they were dedicated. Each race seems to have its "core group" that stick with what they like, it's just that the Federation gets all the new and beginning players.

Perhaps one solution would be for the Server Admin to simply post, where you choose to login (what one race is poorly represented) that Romulan, Klingon, or Borg players would be appreciated (depending on who had the lowest number of players).

The server admin wouldn't be telling anyone what to play, just gently reminding new players that there is more out there besides Federation. Besides, there's probably a few folks who like to root for the underdog and would join that side then.

Still a fun game I enjoy very much.

But let's not slam the Federation. They are, afterall, what made the genre great! My hats off to all the loyal dedicated players there, and to each race's "fighting forces"!

I am another person, although not a newbie, who just happens to like flying Fed. I do not have anything against Klink or Rom I am just crud at flying their ships, I admit it, I cannot do the cloak thing. Trying to use the cloak in SFC2 got me killed all the time, I could just not do it

When I bought SFC3 I did try the Roms because I really do like them, I wanted to fly the Warbird so bad, but again the first time I used the cloak I died...and the 2nd...and 3rd....and eventually I decided to try Borg. But the problem with Borg is that they do not have enough ships, only 4 and once you have a cube the game becomes boring with them.

So I am a Fed player, I will try the Roms again...one day....at least when the cloak targetting bug is fixed in the patch.
