DOE 3/25/03 Database Clean at Midnight US EST

I intend to clean the DOE database tonight (3/21/03) at midnight US EST.  For our friends on the wrong side of the Big Puddle, that's 5AM.  Some of our friends on the wrong side of the equator use weirdo half-hour timezones, so I'm not even going to try to do that conversion.

Please be advised and spread the word.  You might want to take a careful look at which missions you select as the magic hour approaches.  It is my intent to have the server back up within half an hour of taking it down.  Hopefully less, but you never know.

Thanks HB.  For both the cleaning and the heads up.  Oh, and that also explains the reason for the server issues, you're 4 days behind us!!!

Edit:  9:10 pm Eastern.  Had no problems getting on on with the server.  But there is never a problem w/ doing a clean.

My day on the server.   In all missions I was in a SPA.    This is to the best of my memory.

Near Fed space.

Planet assualt:

Two DDs for help.   Three Feds ships to fight.  All CA or CLs.    Planet loaded to bear with PH4.

Base Assualt:

Good sized base loaded with f-18 fighters.   I get ZERO help.  AI gets 3 DDs to help.

Patrol A

I get to get killed by a F-BCF

Patrol A

I get to be killed by another F-BCF

Patrol A

Gooly gee!  Another F-BCF

Patrol A

Finally a CLC.  Nero win's one.

I go to the Gorn front.

A PvP with Guderian and Kel.   Not fair for Kel.

Patrol A

A G-CCH

Convoy escort

I draft Doc.   Game gives him AI help also.

He gets a draw at the end of the mission.  I get a LOSS and another negative -180 PP

I then trip over an Agent Mission in home space that is MANDATORY.  I get PO'd cause I'm trying to go resupply and forfeit it.

WOW a -1000 PP  penalty.   Being that I only had about 2500 left it hurt.

I then try another Patrol A

A CCH

That's all for me folks.  I can't win these battles.

Last night was different.  I was pulling CL and CAs.  Those I can handle.  Might have to run every now and then from a CA but that is fair.   Winning all the time is dull.   Loosing all the time is dull also.

I'll wait for the next server.   I hope it won't be as hard.

I'm hoping someone tells me this is just a bad night and not what everyone is facing.

Nero, I completely agree about the forfiet I have been hit with it as well. I understand why it is there given that deep strikes are allowed, but given teh fact that forfiets are more often than not coused by bugs and, timeouts and drops I think there shouldn't be any lose of PP,b ut rather a rule that forfiets are more allowed. I for one trust that most players are honorable and will adhere to teh rule with out the threat of PP lose.

As for the mission difficulty I here you, these type of servers are tough until you get in something a bit bigger. They are starting to get a little easier for me as I adjust, but they sure take a long time solo.

yeah, I'm not coming back to another EAW server.  I got burned in AotK.  I'm getting toasted through 2 BLOODY ACCOUNTS in DoE.  I'm done.  Back to OP for me.  See y'all in the Badlands.

Maxillius,

I would try DOE again.  Ship mismatching and other issues are being ironed out.  Perhaps you wil find things better now than what you have experienced so far.
