A Humble Request to Mackie...
« on: January 22, 2003, 11:05:49 am »
Hello Mackie! Glad to be a member of your site! I just registered a day or so ago and have been in awe of what I have seen here. Some time ago I downloaded the Galahad, my all time favorite custom starship. Admittedly, my all time favorite of all has been the refitted U.S.S. Enterprise (she is simply beautiful). However, your Galahad has also captured my heart as she is a wonderful combination of grace and power.

In light of that, here is that humble request I mentioned. I just hope that it isn't too much trouble for you. If it is, please say so, my feelings will be hurt.

I use the Galahad CONSTANTLY! I love her just the way she is. I was wondering if you could modify her, creating a larger variant without losing the original. You see, in my "big ships are the coolest" mentality, the Galahad deserves size. I see a variant of her that has a bigger saucer section (with the bridge module staying the same size) with corresponding secondary hull and nacelles. She would be somewhat larger than the Excelsior, making her the flagship of the fleet of new TMP era ships. She would fleet alongside the Galahad, Excelsior, Excalibur, and the stock Advanced cruisers of SFC2 and OP. Besides me, I think a lot of gamers out there would excited to see another one of these ships.

You do great stuff, Mackie!

Thanks for reading and your skills!

Sincerely,

Kaenyne

If your playing EAW with the 2.036 patch, a new model won't help you. The game engine re-sizes ships per the info in the file "model.siz"(for EAW). You'll need to edit this file in order to see your ship the size you want it. Either that, or use it to represent a larger ship class. If you do alter model.siz, keep an original copy for use in multiplayer games, or you'll be called a cheat for using a nasty exploit.

I'm pretty sure that SFCIII does the same thing, but I have yet to find where the sizes are stored.

If your playing SFC I, OP, or EAW prior to 2.036, then yes. This is the place to be.
