OP Patch Bug??
« on: March 23, 2003, 10:45:36 pm »
Anyone else having trouble with PhG2? Since patching (2500-2538)only one per hardpoint will fire and it with only fire once. It used to operate just like PhG  with greater range. I assume this is a bug .

Confirmed. They're broken. All fire the first time, then only one out of four will fire from then on. If you are using a ship with 2 per HP one set won't fire at all after the first shot and the other set only fires one out of 4 shots.

ah, so this is what i have been gearing about G2...

(and BTW, it is true. I can confirm cirbimutes account s of the bug.)

Thanksfully there is another OP patch, no?

Meanwhile, Alphastrike using the G2 (shift-fire) seems to be firing all 4 pulses. that is a workaround until next patch.(can anyone confirm this?)

And hopefully this thread can be notuced by the testers.

Just great, I was hoping I got a bad install. Considering all the time that was spent on testing the patch, I can't understand how something like a weapon mis-firing could be missed. Should have been one of the first things tested. It is a battle simulation after all.

Hey now, Khoros and I made those.  You bastage.

I love the Lyran one; Khoros loves the Romulan one.  I looked at the Rommie one on paper and said "that thing is a piece of dung, it'll never win anything" and he proved me wrong many times.

Thanks for *your* work on the extended shiplist.  Adding 1,100 or so more ships to the game is cool.

And another question. After fixing the OP starting directory, we now have fighters, but the enemy still does not seem to want to use WW's in the face of lots of plasma. Is this a deliberate change or have I managed to take away enemy shuttles? It makes crushing bases with a plasma ship a lot quicker.

This is true, it seems to have the nasty habit of switching back to Captain's level after you leave the campaign. If you use EZ.ini to switch to Admiral again after you leave the camapign it seems to stick for good.

Can someone post an example of what the shortcut to bypass the intro and keep the fighters is supposed to look like? I'm not really clear on what I need to do. Thanks.

One other thing for the Bug Patrol FS - Will someone please take the "Read Only" status off the Bindings file so that the keyboard remapping will work? I have to go in and turn that off every time I patch and it is annoying.

Usually, I just drag and drop a "shortcut" of StarFleetOP.exe from its home directory to my desktop. That does the trick.
As for Bindings.ini, DavidF tried in the current patches.. and got frustrated. It was mentioned to him towards the end of the patching process, so he figured he'd try for next time. I'll add it to the list.

Go to the properties of the icon you use to start OP (right click), and change the target to
C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\StarFleetOP.exe

and use

C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\

in the Start In entry.

This will skip the intro and avoid the crashes that some people have with the campaign mode, and give you fighters too.

EAW seems to put have the correct Start directory to begin with wheras in OP its empty.

OK, I am going to ask a stupid question here.

What is the intro for Orion Pirates?

I played it a while back and am going to reinstall it this weekend since the patch is out but I don't remember there being an intro movie or anything.

Thanks,

Does somebody know about the dissappearing mines, when one makes a suicide shuttle but doesn't use it. You get the shuttle back but not the bomb. I suppose this could be a mission script issue and not part of the patch, but I don't know.

IIRC this happens in both EAW and OP and also includes the missiles loaded into the Scatter Packs.  You get the shuttles back which is a good thing but the ammo is gone.
I can't remember if this has totally been fixed in EAW or not But I do know that before the 38 patch on OP you'd lose the shuttle along with the ammo which really stank.

It's not a problem in EAW, but looks like it slipped through the OP upgrade list. Not a major issue but a significant minor one.

I just patched OP with the 2500-2538 patch and now whenever I try to go into single player campaigns, the game crashes.  I'm running StarFleetOP.exe.  This occurs whether I run the program directly from the installed folder or with a "corrected" shortcut.  The game worked previously, and re-running the patch program informs me that my game is up-to-date.  I'm on Windows 2000 Professional SP1.

Thanks.
