Topic: help with SFC II Patch 2.036's mission "Battle at the Grave of Thoughts" (Read 2461 times)

Greetings,
I hope some people out there still play SFC II. I recently installed it after not using the game for quite some time. I then patched it to the latest version using the SFC2 Patch 2002-2036 . I have had no problems with it until the mission "Battle at the Grave of Thoughts". I am playing as hydran if that makes any difference. I destroy all of the defending ships and the listening post that is being used to call in reinforcements. I then capture my first base and hail my listening post to send a freighter to get my prisoners off the base but no one ever comes. I can't even get it to send extra cruisers (if I lose one of my allies). I have waited for up to 1/2 hour for someone to come and nothing. I can fly to the map edge and still nothing. I tried the download at http://www.strategyplanet.com/sfc/sfc1/mission_official.shtml that lists a problem with that mission and I followed the instructions to the letter to install the fix and it still don't work!! I really want to finish that mission so if anyone has had this problem and solved it, I would appreciate any assistance you could offer. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Did you try renaming the file? I noticed the downloaded mission file has "20.02_" at the beginning of the name. Try deleting that part so it matches the current mission script.

If you search the forum under this topic or by the mission's title, maybe you can track down the thread in which someone posted a version of the scenario from an earlier game patch version... and it works! There was a conversion for OP, too, if I recall correctly.

The file at SFU was discovered by "the Postman", who is the original author of this fix. And I believe quite a few people have attested that this fix indeed does work.

I was told that the file name doesn't matter... so I put the download up as is...

Please try WickedZombie's suggestion first:
deleting the original (uni7_...) and rename the new 20.02_uni7... into uni7.

And please post back the results, so I can adjust the download page accordingly.

I played the game many times with both files in the games. However recently I played it again and the battle failed to function properly until I removed the patched version of the game. 3dot14 would you please rename the file and set it up so it replaces the existing file. I think that will fix any future problems.

I renamed the file as wickedzombie45 suggested and it worked!! Thank's wickedzombie45. The only problem I have now is after I capture all three bases and rescue the prisoner's, I am unable to complete my secondary objective which is to destroy the bases so they can not be used by the ISC again. The base's have all been captured so I could call for the transport and rescue the prisoners but since they were captured, the are now allies and I am unable to fire on an allie.How do I complete my secondary objective? Thanks for any help you can provide.
