SFC2 Campaign Schedule and Server Status
« on: March 15, 2003, 08:02:51 pm »
Although most of you know this already, a lot of people don't, so here is the server campaign schedule for SFC2 in the next few months to come. The schedule is designed to prevent major campaigns from overlapping with each other, in the best interests of the community, as discussed by the respective admins.

Firstly, for newbies, all servers are running with the 2036 patch which can be found at
http://www.sfcx.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=1 or
http://www.strategyplanet.com/sfc/patches_sfc2.shtml

Many campaigns require some kind of download or additional files. If you are unsure how to manage these, information can be found here
http://www.bozobits.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=967
And always make backups!!

Currently , there is a fun server SFC2.net 7.35 running, this not a major campaign but does require a download.
The only thing required is the shiplist which can be found at
http://goolsby.homestead.com/SFC2.html

Day of the Eagle - 21st March to 4th April Approximately. This is being hosted by Herr Burt and will require a download, information for which can be found here
http://www.fourpower.com/DOE_Frontpage.html

Slave Girls of Orion III - 11th April onwards Approximately and is expected to run for 4 to 6 weeks. This is being hosted by Xenocorps, designed by Dizzy, and assisted by SFC2.net. Again, a download will be required.

ISC Invasion - to commence one week after SG3 is completed sometime in May. This is being hosted by GFL and designed by GFL-Karnak. Expected to run aproximately for 4 to 6 weeks, download required.

The Return of Dr. Strangelove - to commence a week or two after ISC Inv. possibly either late June or July. This is being hosted by SFC2.net, designed by the SFC2.net Admin team (primary designer KBF-Skull n Bones). Download required. This is expected to be quite a long campaign and depending upon interest, could run from anywhere from 6 weeks to several months.

The above, of course is a provisionary itinerary, starting dates and length of campaign may be subject to change if problems should arise, we hope they won't though. Information on each of the specific campaigns can be found either elsewhere on these forums, and/or will be posted by their respective campaign administrators as details become available.

Ummm... 4-6 weeks after 11-May puts the ISC invasion squarely in July.  That means RDSL would start in August or early September, assuming no server overlaps.

Oooops, sorry, that was meant to be April, not May, my mistake. I've edited the post, thanks.

I agree, Gumby.  I don't come to these fora very often and when I do, I don't spend a great deal of time catching up.  It's good to see this information encapsulated in one, east to find post.  It sounds like the campaign dance-card is pretty full.

I know my fleet is intending to play on DoE, after that we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the info Tracy, I've copied it to the SFCx site so others that might not see this get the info as well.

ok, so lets see...

DoE - Romulan
SG3 - Hydran
ISC Invasion - Federation
RDSL - Kzin

I might flipflop ISCI and RDSL, but I've narrowed it down to those two as I can beat the AI in every race except Klingon and Lyran, and I've played every other race (but Gorn) on a server by then.  Flying Gorn is like flying Fed with plasma, and it's not pleasurable to me.

For some reason, I have been getting feedback that ISC Invasion will be a SFC2.net server. I know Tracey can be a little assertive in her ways, but just because she announced the schedule does it mean that other independent servers are SFC2.net servers.  What happened is that all the different and distinct D2 admins got together for the good of the community worked out a sequential schedule.  I originally announced the schedule in this forum but Tracey asked me to pull my post so she could do it and being a nice Frog I acquiesed.  I can see that may have been a mistake considering all the confusion it's causing about server ownership.

NOW FOR THE RECORD:

ISC Invasion is a GFL server produced by me, a GFL member, for the GFL.  In no shape or form is SFC2.net associated with this server.  Nada, ziltch and zippo. However, it is a public dyna so non-GFL members will be able to play on it.   The rank structure will be governed by GFL COs and XOs and the dyna rules will be GFL ones.

I hope this clears up the matter; otherwise, I may have to ask the moderator of this forum  to unpin this topic so that the respective admins can post their own schedules using their own accounts.

Karnak, it does quite specifically say in the schedule, that its a GFL hosted campaign and designed by you.
As for what we discussed in private about when we would announce the schedule, you know that the only reason why I asked not to announce things just yet was to allow all of those concerned a chance to respond and discuss the schedule. In hindsight, perhaps I should have asked more people about it. It had nothing to do with me making the announcement at all. Thankyou.

All admins Karnak? Not quite.

And trust me some admins are very easy to reach it's just that we don't hang out on SFC2.net's forums. Visit occationally though.

For the record I never thought that the GFL server was a SFC2.net server, I think it wouldn't have had the GFL tag if it had been.   I'm sure that no one else did either.

I think it's a good thing that SFC2.net is coordinating EaW servers, it's something that both they and SFCx have always worked toward, i.e. campaigns that don't "overlap" and deplete the already small SFC2 community. I only wish I had been contacted so that the OP arena could have been included. It's better in many ways that, at the least, an OP campaign not overlap an EaW campaign greatly (or at all if possible).

Heh, of course till the patch came out there really wasn't much to add (for OP) but it would have saved a hell of a lot of confusion and finger pointing.

I'll second that.

I can agree with this as well. Many in our fleet like ot participate in both. It is a shame when we know there are good servers that overlap as we lose out on seriously competing in one. Nothing worse than coming into an campaign that has been underway for sometime.
