Question, LF SFC Multiplayer Campaign solution
« on: January 11, 2015, 04:53:31 pm »
My father and I are Star Trek enthusiasts, and we love playing the SFC games, even the SFB board game from time to time. We are, however, bored of skirmishes.

My question is:

Are there any current methods of running a private campaign (either online or through LAN)? Something like a simple conquest map which he or I can drop in and out of, and occasionally "fleet" together and/or against each other?

We strongly prefer SFC2EAW or OP, although we would settle for SFC3 or the original game if there are no other options.

I've read all over about the SFC2:CE, however I haven't found either IF that game would work for our needs, nor if it is even available. Sounds like it was released at some point, however I cannot find a way to download or buy it.

Thanks for any help!

There is no automatic multiplayer campaign for any version of Starfleet Command. The company (Gamespy) that provided a tiny but absolutely crucial part of the campaign networking (exclusively for multiplayer Dynaverse) went out of business. Gamespy itself was a replacement for Interplay, which was a replacement for WON.net many years ago. It is possible that service will resume some day.

Single-player campaigns should work for all versions.

But if you are willing to do a little old-fashioned paperwork...check out http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163394098.msg1123047170.html#msg1123047170

Automation isn't always a good thing.

An interesting concept, I appreciate the input.

I am curious if anyone has investigated using GameSpy alternatives such as OpenSpy or GameMaster, or if it would be possible to create localized replication of the service GameSpy offered.
