Exeter would like to have a general meeting on Team Speak soon with anyone who would like to give input to the SFC4 project. You don't need a mic, there is a chat area to type in. The TS version is 3.0.14.

This is for anyone, not just the design team. We won't have many of these, so if you would like your ideas considered, now's the time.

Please post what days and hours are most convenient for you and we will try to come up with a time and date that the most people can come. Once we have that we will give the server address to anyone who doesn't have it.

If you can't make the meeting and have an idea burning a hole in your head, then try to post it for consideration before the meeting or PM me with it if you don't want to post it. Put your idea in its own thread. The Rules thread has become bulky and we are going to start dividing topics up at this point.

My schedule varies from week to week.  This particular week my openings are: (all times Central Daylight Time)
Monday: After 6pm
Tuesday: After 4pm (Would be free this day, but pre-scheduled errands are taking up the morning and early afternoon)
Wednesday: Free all Day
Thursday: After 6pm
Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Must end before 5pm (this is usually the only constant in my schedule from week to week)

My schedule is pretty fixed,  Mon - Fridday after 6 pm Saturday all day, sunday after 1pm, central time

Ack.  Wrong thread, I was thinking about the other 10 page thread.  Sorry I'm still stuck on my phone.  Bought a hard drive today, should be back up and running in a few days.

Being an old time SFB player who did the tourney circuit, who played all the SFC games on all the online sites, with many years of game design experience from the old New World Computing, and with a deep love of SFC (still plays it daily LOL), I think I would be honored and pleased to give my feedback.   email me at allen.t@cox.net for times of any meetings and I will attend. I would love to see SFC4 keep the spirit of SFC 1 thru Orion Pirates (a SFB emulation) but with the fun parts of SFC 3 (like hidden cloak and on map warp drive; note cloak technology is well defeated by tachyon technology in later eras) but skipping the dumbing  down of the energy allocation.  Of course different eras and a far improved (not boring) campaign system. I always wanted the Tholians added with Web tech. Could it go 3D?  My STO is almost 3-D LOL.  I am very excited about the prospects!

Unfortunately Cooler, the programmer we were relying on to head up this project had to bow out due to health reasons.  So this project is pretty much dead at this point.  We do have active coders working on the SFC II/OP/CE games through hex editing who would love another set of eyes to help with testing.  Thank you, we can use all the help we can get.  Welcome to/back to Dyna!

Joining the party late here...but if you guys ever get this back up off the ground, I would be interested in helping with story build.  If anyone has a copy of SFC:III you can check out our mod.  It pretty much is my resume for webbing together a good flow through story with the lead-ins and ship library for each race.  In this instance, I connected it from the the original story build from Taldren's SFC:III cannon interwoven with aspects of the TV shows (NG, Voyager and DS9) and the novelizations surrounding the Typhon Pact series.   Web link for anyone who is interested: http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163396765.msg1123056229.html#new

Well i have been working on a SFC4 prototype in UE4.

So far I have gotten a fighter mechanic to work where the player can pilot shuttles/fighters and even go underneath the miranda/Ulysses Photon torpedo Strut.

Its easier for me as I am still working on textures in Blender, and Unreal Engine 4 will automatically generate materials from blender models. So saves a lot of time on that front. 

I have also made several UI portraits based on the original games portraits and some new ones., just dont know how to make the photon/plasma torpedos and phaser effects to have a generic gameplay loop similar to SFC 1 as OP does not utilize the whole ECM/ECCM system like SFC1 does.

Though if anyone has a list of weapons in OP please let me know about them so I can implement them.

mostly need to be made aware of obscure stuff like Maulers and Hellbores.

For weapons, Klingon shield boring Spearfish drones spring to mind. Also Sunburst drones.

Fighter & shuttle chaff packs, like SFB, would be nice but not essential.

For ship damage (to bring it level with current SFB) hangar deck chain reactions on fighter bay hits containing loaded, ready to fly or rearming fighters.

Pod & pallet separation in game for troop landing missions. I'm thinking Lyran troop assault pallets here.

Saucer & boom separation.
