« on: December 21, 2013, 09:17:27 am »
I was wondering something after the Chines land a toy on the moon, the news says that they where the 3rd nation to "land on the moon" Beside the USA in 1969, who when on the moon?

I never heard anything on history about another nation going there.

The U.S.S.R. landed multiple probes there.

I taught it was them, but I don't understand why it was never mention in history. Is it because it was only probe?

Did anyone else but the USA have landed a man on the moon?

It wasn't just one probe (Wiki list).  They had the first farside pictures.  The first to impact (not land purposeful crash) and the first soft landing.  The U.S. is so far the only one to put men on the moon.

The Japanese have also had at least one purposeful impactor.

The U.S.S.R. also had the first rover and first automated sample return.

If you look at the list and are inclined to laugh or  otherwise revile those early failures consider how difficult it was to make a robotic probe when your computer had to be both very light and use discrete transistors not integrated circuits.  The computing power would be far less than in your digital watch.

Maybe that's what the USA want to hide. The reason they don't want anyone to send a probe or a crew on the moon  ::)

No, they are justifiably worried that previous landing sites and some long time set up equipment could be damaged or compromized.

The conspiracy theorists would say they don't want it revealed that there were no manned landings.  (I'm not a conspiracy theorist).
